Someone on realgm mentioned that Stevens would get fired. Admins locked the thread. But maybe its a case where Stevens cant get to that next level aka fire Carlisle for Larry Brown or Mark Jackson for Steve Kerr

Brad Stephens would have a job the immediate second after he got fired.

Obviously I know Ainge isn't getting fired. To be honest I think Wyc would get rid of Stevens before Ainge. He's teflon in Boston.

That said, I think Ainge needs to pick a side this offseason. No more of this one foot in, one foot out bullshyt. He needs to decide if he wants to win-now or go through a youth movement. Rebuilding teams don't give guys in their 30s $100 million and teams trying to win now aren't reluctant to acquire established stars in their prime for unproven players

This win-now and win-later plan really doesn't seem all that effective right now. This team can't hang with the likes of the Bulls & Hawks right now, let alone the Cavs or Warriors. And when you compare the young guys to those of teams like Minnesota, Philly & Phoenix they pale in comparison. So right now they aren't winning now, and they lack high level prospects: Only player under 25 who looks like he could even be a starter in this league is Brown. He has to nail at least one of those Nets picks, no ifs or buts

So something's gotta give right? Is that really unreasonable? :ld:

And holding onto those assets too long now their might not be any impact player to trade for

George is going to La and Butler now probably will stay if the Bulls go on a run in the playoffs so who's gonna be available on the trade market?

Will he try to trade for Blake Griffin?

Hayward is the likely offseason target

True but he didn't leave to join his coach two years ago I don't see why he'd do it now

He's in a great spot in Utah with a good young team as the main option and he can make a lot more money staying

Boston thinks they can wait out the LeBron era and hope they can compete when he gets older, but that plan's fukking dumb because you have to take your shot when it's available.

If the Warriors decided they should just be patient after they lost to the Clippers in game 7 of the first round in 2014, they wouldn't be where they are now.

that idea is dumb since their best player is 5'7" and in his prime.

players that short don't have a long shelf life in the nba, so I would think the chance to strike would be now while the iron's hot.

The stoop with dat dope fanny padding
thats actually not true.

Philly were tryna get everything for Nerlens.

Word on the street is that philly didn't want to trade noel to Boston in same division unless they were getting Bradley and a pick

But anyways, as I said at the deadline I'm not mad at not giving up a haul for butler or George... I am frustrated we didn't try to upgrade Amir Johnson and add noel or Gibson considering we could have done it for Zeller and a combination of some of our million picks

Either way I thought we were not worthy of being a number one seed and I'm not completely shocked to see this happening

Horford is not a 1 or 2 guy he's a really good 3rd or 4th option who does a lot of things great and compliments everybody perfectly

But if this team had somebody like gortat or robin Lopez at center I'd feel way more confident

Ainge should be getting killed, but I still rather have him as a GM than any other GM except Presti; Bucks GM, and the Spurs GM. Since Danny doesn't feel a Boogie/Butler/Paul trade would mean a chip, it wouldn't shock me if Ainge blows it up this summer.

The problems with blowing it up are Ainge isn't great at drafting, and Stevens could make a 20 win team into a 30 win squad.

Lets be real. This team over performed this season. We dont have a decent center. We dont have a true reliable second scorer (Bradley and Jae are role players). I never seriously expected a ring this year. If we snag Hayward and Fultz next year, and dump Olynk/Zeller for a adequate rebounding big man, i think we have a chance next year.

Still i cant shyt on Ainge. We rebuilt without tanking and the future is bright

Not that Boston is his intended target, but there are definitely rumblings that Hayward isn't going to re-sign in Utah:hubie:

He could have went to Boston 2 years ago as a FA when Stevens got there and he didn't

Why now? He's on a very good young team and can make a lot more in Utah

He was a restricted free agent so he couldn't have

I was bout to say the same thing. there's ZERO chance a team like UTAH would allow one of their main guys to become an UFA. too much of a risk to take for a team/market that pretty much cannot attract any top tier free agents.

He was restricted then. And the Celtics were coming off a 25 win season.

And unless he makes an All-NBA team, the Jazz can't offer significantly more than Boston, they can really just offer the extra year

If the Jazz beat the Clippers I'll be surprised to see him leave, but it's not improbable

why is your future bright?

also, you had a wounded Cavs team this year. You had a serious chance.

Idk, but it feels like opportunity missed.

Jaylen Brown is gonna be a damn good player. We have a top 3 pick this year. and a possible top 3 pick next year. Young coach who can grow with the team

We might be able to hook a star free agent finally (Blake or Hayward)

I never thought we would be down 0-2 to the Bulls but i never thought we would win a ring this year. Ive been following this team all of my life. I never mistook them for a championship caliber team especially when your best player is 5 ft 7 and your best secondary scoring option is Avery Bradley.
