I reserve judgment until I see how much actual “low income” housing is a part of this project. The developers play that game for sympathy come to find out one $450K house has a $20K low income credit :mjlol:

People who live out in the country do it to stay away from people and crowds and traffic. Having the 40 acre plot across the road turn into a 120 house development fukks up the whole reason you moved to the country. Im trying to by a rural house and i would be PISSED if I built a house just for them to re-zone farmland next door for a massive development.

Cities try to rezone low density land (maybe 1 house per 5 acres max) because they want the property taxes and dont give a fukk about the people already living there.

And I bet Chapelle living there was a big selling point too.

Why would you build low income housing out in the sticks.

Cheap land and “out of the way”. But my assumption is the “low income” part of the deal is bullshyt.

Like someone said earlier in this thread low income housing located near to good public Transportation and metro areas.

Why is everyone equating “low income” to black folks :mjpls:? These days there’s just as many poor or low income whites as black. And there’s a difference between low income housing (which was never used in the article) and affordable housing :snoop:. This type of thing always goes on in neighborhoods and tight knit communities but just cuz he’s Chappelle he gets a spotlight put on him. As a homeowner especially in the boonies where he is I’m sure they’re concerned about traffic, resources, and safety. There’s nothing wrong with that.

This whole post is based on a false pretense and you only cherry pick what you want to give a idealistic response to common sense issues. You speaking to a breh that grew up in the projects, mama was on section 8, food stamps, and all that other shyt. Talk to me when you wanna have a grown up discussion.
Respond with anecdotal evidence and ignore all of my points. Cool cool cool

This. I love how the Coli acts like they’re above this shyt. I’d love to see how they would feel if Skid Row (LA) or Kensington (Philly) or The Tenderloin (SF) were transplanted in their current neighborhoods or their parents’ neighborhoods and see if they’ll keep that same energy.
that's different, idk why you fools keep using those examples, those are fukked up communities they didn't start that way, plus skid row is just where homeless people congregate, wasn't like that 50 years ago.

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
"affordable housing" could mean anything, it's not like they saying they're going put projects right next to his crib
and honestly sometimes affordable housing be a lie developers say in order to get tax incentives and rights to build only to then build expensive ass condos with like one or two affordable studio units in the building
either way it's whatever, a community should be able to control what happens in said community as long as it's not some racist shyt. So far my community been losing to developers so i'm not mad Dave got some leverage
same...

I'm not super upset, because like you said...the shyt ain't really as affordable as they claim

Again, can people point towards where David expressed that he's against affordable housing.

1.75 acres donated to the community to build affordable homes at some point in the future. I.e no commitment.

51.25 acres towards building homes that cost between 250 to 600k. Above the average cost of a house in the area which is 215k.

3.5% of the land is designated to affordable housing. The plans for affordable housing has no real commitment.

Can someone please explain to me why they are able to use affordable housing as a shield from challenges when it is not central and not significant to their venture.

This is why it is easy to rob people blind. So long as you provide them with scraps and empty promises, they will overlook everything else.

3.5% of the land is designated to affordable housing. The remaining 96.5% of the land will go towards homes outside the price range of locals. But because of that 3.5%, the issue the big developer is the champion of the little guy.

How you gonna ROFL with a hollow back?
You say this as if those who build and provide affordable housing aren’t get tax breaks and subsidized like shyt out here too. They aren’t building affordable housing out of the kindness of their hearts. See @keond post. Perspective changes when you start owning shyt.
I own in a great neighborhood, so i understand everything that goes along with it, i'm just presenting the other side of the argument. Whenever I see anybody taking the side of the mega rich I like to represent the other side of that. I also understand in some cases it's the mega rich doing the building, but if they are building housing that is truly affordable in this current climate, it's hard for me to take the side of the folks not creating/standing in the way of creating affordable housing. I also say this as an owner in a desirable community that isn't having to deal with this issue, so I don't care if it is being built in that neighborhood.

shyt i say this ALL the time, but if I could press a button a get rid of them section 8 / slum lord buildings between 71st and 72n in south shore…

Only mfs who want to live around them bum ass nikkas are other bum ass nikkas. if it ain’t drama, shootings and police, they litter and throw garbage everywhere. Literally everyday I’m picking up shyt in my yard. This is how yards around these buildings look:
lJost2W.jpg

Goofy ass bum nikkas and buildings only have street parking so these clowns will park directly in front of your driveway no fukks give and leave it there.

Etc…

Crashing into park cars, flying 100 mph down side streets. People who own shyt, care about shyt. A bunch a sheltered nikkas who don’t live around this type of shyt mad that people don’t want that shyt around :mjlol:

Wonder how long it will take people to stop treating this thread as an opportunity to grind whatever axe they have.

2 acres of land they're donating to one day build affordable homes is not going to impact the area.

The 48 acres of land they're dedicating to building homes in the region of 250k to 600k (more than the average of 215k) might.

Why is this being used to shyt on the concept of affordable homes. It isn't central to developers plans nor is it central the villagers' complaints.

Honestly what needs to be done is splitting up affordable housing in tiny pieces all over town. What causes all this chaos that ppl want to avoid is congregating and ghettoizing low socioeconomic residents together.
