We already had affordable housing spots in town before he brought these businesses and everybody got along fine.
Since Chappelle came town has been heavily gentrified and all the black folks i grew up with have to move to Xenia and Springfield to find a place they afford.
Very disapponted in him for doing this. Of course the cacs in town would agree with him. YS used to be a liberal black town.
why would you be mad at people of all income level being able to afford a place to live?
What was the highest percentage of black ppl ever in YS?

Didn't Chappell talk about the amount of White opioid addicts in Ohio? Who wants to live near them?
He was talking about Columbus specifically. YS is bs

I know at one point it was 30% when my dad was growing up. It's at 9% now and falling.
We used to have a black mayor back when that was unheard of.

I've been to Yellow Springs. I don't even think there's 5K people there. I might have seen a dozen black folk.

Have people actually talked to people from Yellow Springs instead of getting riled up by "them people"? A lot of the against arguments I see here originated from "them people" sub-Reddits if you look at the time stamps of SERPs in Google's cache. The developer was trying to pull a fast one and added the "affordable housing" carrot after people were starting to complain that the new development wouldn't benefit YS residents and was meant to draw in outsiders.

Affordable housing starting at $200K? :mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:

Again, can people point towards where David expressed that he's against affordable housing.

1.75 acres donated to the community to build affordable homes at some point in the future. I.e no commitment.

51.25 acres towards building homes that cost between 250 to 600k. Above the average cost of a house in the area which is 215k.

3.5% of the land is designated to affordable housing. The plans for affordable housing has no real commitment.

Can someone please explain to me why they are able to use affordable housing as a shield from challenges when it is not central and not significant to their venture.

This is why it is easy to rob people blind. So long as you provide them with scraps and empty promises, they will overlook everything else.

3.5% of the land is designated to affordable housing. The remaining 96.5% of the land will go towards homes outside the price range of locals. But because of that 3.5%, the issue the big developer is the champion of the little guy.

Caring about the value of your home and the area you live in is now exclusive to cacs. Fantastic.
It's predominantly cac behavior because they have more homes, nicer neighborhoods and the status quo favors them tremendously.

The idea that lower income people will ruin a neighborhood is cac propaganda. They took race based discrimination off the books officiallly, made it about poverty and now and you fools are buying it hook line and sinker.:mjlol: cities now are just as segregated as they have ever been with these nimby tactics and they got useful house nikkas like you to fight their fight for them.

He was talking to me, an actual life long resident of Yellow Springs.
Yes only about 3 thousand people live there now. 9% of that is black. Used to be 30% back in the P funk era. which was atypical for a rural community nowhere near a city. Especially in this part of the country.
Black folks in town are for the affordable housing. It's the white people who are against it and Dave of course. and 200k is very affordable for YS these days.

I don’t want affordable houses next to my cribs either :mjpls:

Why not? It's all about tenant screening. There are a lot of hardworking ppl out there who need help. My best friend lived in affordable housing, his mom was a housekeeper and he worked his ass off to become an it manager
