These dudes would not care about some damn Dave East without the Nas cosign. That's a fact.
J Cole would be on Mickey Factz/Charles Hamilton/Casey Veggies/ status if Jay Z didn't pick him up.

Don't forget...he was being touted as a Roc Nation pickup on his FIRST mixtape. That was his whole appeal.

Co-signs really will have people overlooking mediocrity a lot of times.

Unlike Vado, Dave East actually makes appealing music. Vado is just a basic, generic NY rapper with no discernable personality. He was thoroughly exposed by rapping along side Cam'ron --- a dude with enough personality for 5 rappers
4-5 years ago, people said what they say about Dave East now, about Vado.

Period.

And you know its true.

Watch.

Dave East's time is almost up...and at least Cam was pushing Vado hard. Nas is nowhere to be seen here.

He's trying the J Cole+Hov "hands-off" formula, but its not working...:lupe:

Yeah skill wise they're about the same. East makes more enjoyable records tho.
I can't agree...Vado had some hard ass songs...but all that half-baked street shyt wasn't moving anyone.

There was just no presence in the music. It was super transparent. No serious hooks. No memorable production...and we know the bars were just...so-so...but vado had a little more going for him charisma wise.

I dont know why people act like this isn't MUSIC at the end of the day.

Chances are that you're not telling me shyt I've never heard before so you might as well salute a Chance The Rapper who is going out of his way to make it sound fly as hell while doing it.

just "spitter" rap...this shyt ain't moving no-one.
Yeah, a lot of people like myself like "spitter records" and mainstream shyt too :gladbron:

You seem to be a solely pop rap fan dude is a new artist with major co-signs, XXL Freshman Cover, touring, getting mad love in his city and you out here hating. Listen to the Mack Wilds and Rico Love records I posted with payola and single push those records have potential.

We'll see if he gets there this is like criticizing Drake when Comeback Season dropped or K-Dot when OD came out for lack of mainstream appeal... :heh:

You was wrong about Bryson Tiller too...

I like spitter records...that are actually dope.

Would you not agree that dudes like 2 Chainz or Wayne aren't spitting when they want to? :usure: I mean come on...you act like that strict "let me fill in every syllable" bullshyt means something when the rhymes themselves aren't even that hot.

And don't let me touch on when the punchline fails to deliver. :snoop: You'll sense it coming in the bar... :krs: ...and it'll hit you like some weak ass wind :shaq2: and you'll forever resent that artist for wasting your time.

I'm not on some exclusively pop-rap shyt...but I do like to be entertained.

And who cares about the mack wild/rico love songs? NYC pushes weak shyt in 2016 cause they have no other choice...not cause its dope. ATL can actually sit back and be picky cause theres just so much heat there, hate it or love it. NYC is stuck pushing wannabe Hov's trying to act slick on the mic instead of doing what ASAP Mob did and find something new to bring to the table.

Bryson Tiller won't be here this time next year. His new feeler singles aren't moving. Look around.

Clearly around that time, only people in NY were saying that.

Heard the Collegrove Project, they not spitting better than East right now... :laff:

Desiigner, French, and A Boogie with da Hoodie got more bangers than these ATL artists right now. Fat Joe got the song of the summer. Why you yapping about NY?

Who exactly are you talking about from Atlanta?

:trash: ass Lil Yachty, 21 Savage, Makkonen? Thug and Future is all y'all really got.

Bryson Tiller has core fans, bytches love him trust me he'll be alright...

I don't think Nas is taking a hands off approach as a strategy he just a dude that always has had hiatuses when it comes to being in the public eye, I like Dave East though, Vado was cool too I think he just didn't put out as much output after not being with Cam and with both these cats I think its just an era where even if you have a cosign you have to do some leg work yourself too, so we'll see how Dave does with that

:lawd::lawd:

I like East, he represents uptown cats style/flow/aesthetic pretty well but he will never blow up. He lacks charisma and his hook game is sub-par, a great example of the early mid 2000's NYC/Philly mixtape/DVD having a negative influence on NYC. Fans of that era of hip-hop embrace East because they feel like he represents what "REAL NY shyt" is supposed to sound like, these are often the types who strongly disliked A$AP's debut mixtape and Shmurda/GS9. He gets talked about on here and hip-hop media because of the aforementioned facts and of course the nas co-sign.
But I just checked youtube and "KD" is his most popular non-freestlye song with just 800K views.:wtf::wtf::wtf: Meanwhile A-Boogie...

If you disregard their similar talent, they are kinda both in the same space music wise. They both ny artist that don't have the "it" factor to become big and I don't see them being anything other than local mixtape artist.
