Also like some other folks on this thread said, part of what made NY stand out in the past was the focus on the lyrical content. The topics were unique (i.e. outside the realm of pop) and relatable and that made up for the musicality not being particularly soulful. These days these nikkas ain't soulful AND they're not saying shyt either.

Honestly that nikka @A.V. one of the nicer NY nikkas I heard in a minute... bruh actually got some introspective shyt to say and though I think he could also deviate a little more from the NY sound he's doing something right. NY nikkas used to stand out because they weren't afraid of speaking on topics that were outside of the norms of pop music, that needs to come back frfr.

Something Ive realized with this whole internet era is you cant predict things. You just gotta follow what the streets is saying :smugbiden:

New York used to come with the crazy song concepts all the time... At the end of the day, if you're an ARTIST your job is to look at the world a little (or a lot) different than the next man. nikkas want to fit in with the greats but great music almost always occurs when you don't fit in with everyone else.

I hated him at first, kinda warmed up to him. I think he uses auto tune not sure. If you come to NYC he's all you'll hear out of cars or at any functions it's crazy...

He doing industry features now :ohhh:

I dead ass have no idea why you're comparing East to Lil Wayne and 2Chainz... :what:

"Uptown with the strap like Rasheed Wallace
I was destined to shine I just need polish"

"Tell me how I'm 'posed to sit in class when the rent due
Teacher got a check and not concerned 'bout what you in to"

I heard the Collegrove Project, Chainz nor Wayne had double entendre punchlines nor introspective lines like those...

East is not a hypebeast/blipster rapper (this was Bamz only lane) though I'm gonna disagree. Bodega Bamz never appealed to the streets you had to be on the internet to know about him.

Man if you don't get the fukk out my face right now with those simple ass lines :mjlol:

Wayne and Chainz forget punchlines harder than that trash :pachaha:

Vado spits the fly shyt way better but he has a few bad habits on the mic.
Dave got a more palatable style and a better rapping voice so i can see why people like Dave records more.

I personally just don't get the hype behind Dave east, he is a mediocre rapper.

Seems like a cool dude tho
