A lot of nikkas SWEAR by Dave Ramsey though. And let's be real, if this was say, five months ago, you all would agree with him because I saw the exact same advice given here before. Y'all used to love promoting those sorry ass, exploitative gig economy jobs.
I still do

I think he was saying to make MORE than UI

I think Ramsey is spot on about some things but off the mark on some others, like pretty much all financial talking heads. Find the advice you need at the stage of life you're in. Might be Ramsey when you're starting out, then Suzy Orman down the road etc.

But to the OP, I kind of agree with him on this one. We are about to go into a deep recession right now. I'd rather have a job that can meet my financial obligations than "cake" off a limited supply of UI.

EDIT: Worst time to be looking for a job is in a recession with large unemployment.
You said it best. Ramsey helped me out big time when I was first getting into taking my finances seriously

But over time I realized how crappy a lot of his advice is. And i'm sure you can find something you dont like about any guru out there. As long as you have a solid footing to move forward for your stage in life then you're good

Dave Ramsey is a borderline white Supremacist and he does not give good financial advice to black people.

he told a woman that was living in the projects and needed to move that she should pay all her debts off first and have 6 mths emergency money before she moved. That’s white people advice.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
As a poor person who has received both government assistance and unemployment, working has way more "freedom" than getting assistance. Having a cap on the amount of money you can make, sucks ass. I remember a couple years back having to redetermine for food stamp eligibility, I was borrowing money from family to pay what's necessary, and they wanted to know the names and numbers of people I was borrowing the money from. I told them I was selling ass on craigslist and didn't know the people's names :heh: Unemployment is a weekly hassle as well. It's not worth it, unless of course you're bringing in more than your salary.

I got laid off during the great recession. I used a portion of my severance to buy a cargo van and formed an LLC. Was making over $1,000 a week making deliveries as an independent contractor.

Because I used the companies EIN to get paid, I was able to collect unemployment for 18 months :banderas:

He went bankrupt about two years after amassing his "fortune". With that said, I understand his rational with the advice he gives. If were weren't in a pandemic, it would be solid advice, imo.
Bankruptcy doesn't mean you're broke, it just means you:troll:your creditors. Wasn't Kanye $50M in debt a year ago, now he's supposedly a billionaire
