David Banner be on some shyt lately.

Lately? This clown has been on this hypocritical ass sh*t for like the past 7 or 8 years. Once his shine started to fade from the bullsh*t he was putting out he wanted to run back to trying to be conscious and be a voice of reason all of a sudden. GTFOH. It's amazing how few people in the industry I've actually seen call him out on this sh*t.

We tend to go to the extremes to try and prove a point and it is never smart, see Richard Sherman:snoop: David should know better since he's in the industry that black artists aren't allowed to be lyrical, the moment they do they get labeled "conscious" and their album gets shelved. The mainstream music industry only wants to hear garbage rap from black artists, but will forever let a cac rapper be "lyrical" to try and prove that white people can rap too. I peeped game a long time ago when they started telling black artists how the euro sound was in, then you had rappers using that techno/pop shyt while white artists started coming in and using the rap/r&b sound. The end result is their albums going platinum and winning best rap/r&b, while albums like Yeezus are panned for being junk.

There are plenty of lyrical black rappers today - including the current top 3 biggest rappers (Drake Kendrick Cole). Cole and Kendrick are making "conscious" records too.

Yea the popular white rappers now are lyrical...but we're talking about such a small sample size. Em, Macklemore, Mac Miller...all "lyrical" in some way or another. Then you have Iggy who isn't lyrical at all. Hard to compare a small pool that isn't really diverse to a huge pool of black rappers which includes so many regions.
