Exactly how I feel about season 2 after a few re-watches. On one Wire re-watch I omitted season 2 and when it goes to season 3 u realize u missed a lot if u don't watch season 2
you can't skip Season two Marlo got the connect in Season two from the Greeks and that's how the Co-op got started.

Well New york reached out to that one guy who reached out to Sil who choked him out. They Knew Paulie a bit and Patsy wanted to kill Tone for his brother Philly so it's plausible that New York contacted Paul or even Phil and made the deal Then when Mead told Pasty's son about the Dinner they sent someone to clip Tone at the restaurant.

Even if you don't believe that clearly something happened there to be featured prominently in the Movie.

Thinking about it now, One reason the hitta was looking at Tony was because dude was from Italy. I think he was sent over by that kid who sent the shooters at Phil when they killed the wrong people. The shooter was told to make sure and I think that Maedow told her Boyfriend mainly because I think she was gonna announce that she was pregnant and the son told Pat who had the guy meet them there.

I think Paul and Patsy were too p*ssy to actually wack Tone theirselves.

I think they tied it up quite nicely. It's about the drug game, did you expect a textbook ending?

They even kinda showed how Omar became Omar when Mike started robbing nikkas and Dukie became a junkie and randy would grow up to be Prop Joe.
ive never heard of the randy turning into prop joe one

he is a certified snitch, i cant see his peers he grows up with ever forgiving or taking him serious for that

prop joe a certified cold hearted killer and king pin, ran the entire east side of baltimore

actually marlo entering the wire with his plot armor kind of ruined prop joe in that series

prop joe from season 1 /2 was severely a different person from right before his death just to make marlo seem on equal level to avon

but the truth is, no one really cared if avon had an equal, people were content with prop joe being his equal on the other side :ld:

as i get older the whole chris/snoop boogey man shyt and marlo storyline takes away from wire greatness, not adds to it :ld: still on my mount rushmore of tv shows though, up there with breaking bad, sopranos and game of thrones (even with the season 8 debacle)

The possibility of Furio and Carm having a child, sheesh. I wonder how that would’ve fared. :bryan:

@19-

Who's to say who else caught bullets at the table, Carmela might be dead too. I wish Chase would have clarified if only Tony died.

The Wire was clearly a superior show, but I understand why people fukk with The Sopranos The Wire talked about the system there's already enough hood movies with smart but Ruthless Black Bosses but we needed a show that just didn't show nikkas killing each other willy nilly. Most people didn't like season 2 or season 4 but both were necessary to show the corruption of the whole system. The Sopranos was an easier watch it was about a family and a crew and the funny and sad shyt that they did.
i'll take the docks storyline over the newspaper storyline any day, The Wire is a better series overall though, Sopranos was a great case study about a sociopath but The Wire looked through a broader scope when dissecting elements of society.

You do know that killing Tony to avoid payment would just start a war.. My god people are stupid. This was a bad ending and there's no logical way to explain it.
A war with Who? Mostly everyone is dead by that point.

A lot of great points were brought up in this thread that I never thought about, like Meadow indirectly letting NY/Patsy know where Tony was going to be. In the same interview where David Chase accidentally admitted that Tony dies at the end, he also revealed that season 5 was originally going to be the final season, and Tony's "death scene" was him going to a tunnel to meet with New York.
In the original version, Tony would be called to a meeting with Johnny Sack and the audience would be led to the believe that he was on his way to his death and, like the final version, the screen would cut to black before we saw Tony get killed.

This the essay about the final scene that some of you mentioned

like others have pointed out there's tons of easter eggs in the final season that allude to Tony dying

here's another one, notice how Sil doesn't even notice anything until shots have already been fired and it's supposed to represent how quick it could happen and "cut to black" for the person being shot

I always thought the Blue Comet convo was a silly argument b/c unlike what Bobby told Tony, he DID hear and see his death coming. This scene makes a much stronger case for Tony's death.

fukk the hate for season 2 of The Wire! Frank Sobotka was such an excellent character! As someone also mentioned, the docks storyline was way better than the newspaper storyline.

What turns people off of season 2 is that it is such a dramatic shift from what we saw in season 1. I definitely didn't care for season 2 after my 1st watch. I appreciated it more after my 2nd watch. Season 2 is crucial to the overall story.

I know this is a Sopranos thread but I just wanted to put my 2 cents in on this.

exactly If Frank and them the supposed "Good guys" didn't facilitate bringing in the Heroin Avon, Prop Joe, String, And Marlo couldn't exist.

They did an excellent job of showing that it's white people behind all the crime in the ghetto.

I was reading something today from David Chase and he said his original ending was to have Tony go up to NY and get wacked off camera. He said he just changed the location. So i think its safe to say NY wacked him. Paulie and Patsy ordering the hit is some parody shyt. They could have helped give him up though.

It's not a perfect recreation. Micheal isn't gay.but he robs drug dealers.

You think Prop Joe deal making ass wouldn't snitch to keep his ass out of a fire?

I kinda don't understand how Marlo and Chris and Snoop took away from the series. Where they are funny and charismatic as Avon String and Weebay? No but they weren't less effective as gangsters.

It was obvious that he got merked. The sopranos WILL NEVER fukk WITH THE WIRE THOUGH. SOPRANOS AND THESE MOB SHOWS ARE OVERRATED AND BORING. Never saw the fascination or interest with the mafia, goodfellas shyt.

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
I still hold on to the belief that a baby grand piano fell on Tony right after it cut to black.
