Personally, I don't know one single person IRL that watched Gotham past the first few eps. It's just too lame. The only interesting character is penguin

Season 1 was trash, if that has prevented you from checking out the rise of villains that's on you.But the show has definitely found itself :sas2:

So they haven't even ordered the pilot yet? :dahell:

I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up getting scrapped

The drama will follow Superman's grandfather and hails from David S. Goyer.

It's official: Syfy is in the Superman business.

The NBCUniversal-owned cable network has handed out a formal pilot order to Supermanprequel drama Krypton.
The drama is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel's home planet. Krypton will follow Superman's grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family's honor and save his beloved world from chaos.

Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice's David S. Goyer will exec produce the drama through his Phantom Four banner.Sleepy Hollow's Damian Kindler will exec produce and serve as showrunner. Colm McCarthy will direct and co-exec produce the pilot. Goyer and Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time) will pen the script for the Warner Horizon Television drama that is based on DC Comics characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

"Krypton is one of the most iconic stories in the comic book universe,” said Bill McGoldrick, exec vp scripted content at NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “In the talented hands of David S. Goyer and the DC Entertainment/Warner Horizon Television team, this exciting Syfy project will take viewers back to Superman’s home to show how the timeless legend began.”
The drama comes as comic book fare continues to dominate primetime. For its part, DC Comics also has Fox's Batman prequelGotham as well as The CW series The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow — all of which are returning for the 2016-17 broadcast season.

For Syfy, Krypton joins a pilot slate that also includes Prototype and a development slate that features Brave New World andHyperion.

Syfy in the past year-plus has focused on bringing more science-fiction fare to its network. Its roster consists of Hunters, 12 Monkeys, Incorporated, Channel Zero: Candle Cove, The Expanse and The Magicians.

For Goyer, Krypton becomes his latest comic book foray. The self-professed fanboy counts the Dark Knight trilogy, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice as well as TV's Constantine, FlashForward and Da Vinci's Demons among his credits.

Sure, Superman’s native home planet is going to (SPOILER ALERT!) go boom at the end, but if the casting breakdowns for Syfy’s recently greenlit Krypton pilot are any indication, there was some serious drama playing out in the decades prior.

Krypton’s lead characters include:

SEG-EL | Envisioned here as athletic, quietly confident and in his 20s, comic fans are familiar with an older (and a bit grumpier) Seg from his appearance in the classic Starman No. 51, written by James Robinson with story by Robinson and David S. Goyer, who is executive producer/writer of Krypton. But Seg’s a good guy at any age; in the comics, he and son Jor-El (Kal-El/Superman’s father) helped Starman get away while other Kryptonians wanted to detain – and dissect – the Earthling.

LYTA ZOD | This twentysomething beauty will likely have some familial tie to Superman’s future foe, General Zod, while she herself is a (reluctant) warrior.

VAL-EL | Seg’s genius grandpa defied death by going into the Phantom Zone, and is a staunch believer in space exploration. (We know that’s a lesson he’ll pass along to his great-grandson.)

Other characters include:

ALURA ZOD | Lyta’s mom happens to bear the same name as Kara Zor-El’s mother on Supergirl, while “Zod” always raises an eyebrow because of that whole “kneel before” thing.

DEV-EM | If anyone is going to survive Krypton’s inevitable fate, it’ll be this chiseled, twentysomething bad boy. In the comics, Dev escapes the doomed planet, abuses Superboy on Earth and eventually becomes an ally of the Legion of Super-Heroes… in the 30th century.

TER-EL | AKA Seg’s father. We didn’t get him to play Supergirl’s Man of Steel, but maybe Tom Welling (Smallville) could play Clark’s great-grandfather on Krypton?

Production on the pilot is slated to begin in Montreal later this summer.
