David Hogg is on The Breakfast Club and they are pushing John Stewart to be the next president. Ya'll think he'd have a chance?

The answer is better policies. Thats the long and short of it. It doesn't matter who you run as long as you meaningfully distinguish yourself with policies that make people want to vote for you.

1. Universal healthcare
2. Free college in all 50 states
3. Housing speculation ban and a ban on private equity owning family or individual housing.
4. Return marginal tax rate and increased corporate tax rate.
5. Universal child and senior care under Medicare funding.
6. Raise the minimum wage
7. Ban businesses from price gouging and responding to increased wages with higher prices.
8. Ban advertising to children
9. Data protection and compensation. If private companies are using your data to make money off you, you're entitled to payment. Otherwise switch to an opt-in method where your data is automatically not collected and you have to opt in for that.
10. Federal jobs guarantee to reindustrialize America and make sure more goods are being made here and not off shore.

Democrats were losing after Jimmy Carter and their strategy was basically to just be Republicans. It's bill Clinton that tore down the glass steagle act and it was him that brought in nafta and doubled down on the war on drugs. He governed like a republican and then when Obama showed up he won because he was offering new policies and was critical of politics as usual from both parties. Trump essentially stole the same playbook except he tripled down on the white supremacy.

You may be the first person I ever heard want a "savvy" politician elected. Most people fukking hate politicians and think they are all lying pieces of shyt. Everyone but MAGA folks.
ignorant people sterotype certain professions. They call accountants "bean counters" and say we dress like this,
accountant-sitting-at-a-desk-with-a-laptop-and-calculator-1.jpg.webp

And while i do dress like that when have valued clients visiting. Most days i show up to the office dressed more like this
9b5cd93c-a45a-5123-8285-1eacd1927014

We are back of the house, in the kitchen. why dress formal? Who's going to complain? i'm in an office sitting in front of a computer all day not talking to anyone.

Anyways my point being

People say shyt about politicians mostly out of tradition and cultural stereotypes not out of any reality they've experienced.
In our lifetime, the two worst presidents we've ever had have been the two who weren't politicians. And the best ones have been lawyers/senators / career politicians. We go into recessions whenever we elect someone who is under qualified.

Idk if yall realize but america is heavy on celebrity worship .

He'd have a chance. Look at how he made them change course on that bill that was going to screw over vets last year .

Nobody on either side will, because AmeriKKKa is hypercapitalistic.

AmeriKKKa is ran by Hyper-capitalists that at all time teaches its subjects to worship (hyper)capitalism.

You can’t effectively fight an enemy who worships the same God.

Celebrity worship is the result of Massa teaching the worship of hyper-capitalism..

trump was unqualified, but he had that bullshyt "i'm a businessman, i know how to run organizations" line that people swallowed. embarrassing, but it worked

stewart has the chops to do this, and he's a good guy, but people are gonna say "what have you ever done besides host tv", and i don't know if he'll be seen as a serious candidate

i'm still all in on the governor of PA right now, if he goes for it. unless someone better comes along

I don’t think that’ll work at all. I wouldn’t be surprised if he did worse than Kamala. The right would think he’s way too liberal and that would turn them off

I mean Republicans still fall all over themselves with Reagan and he was really the first modern day “celebrity” President
In "defense" of Reagan, he was governor of California for 8 years and was already heavy in republican politics before he actually got elected. I hate Reagan, but he had been a politician before getting elected. :francis::hubie:
