If he pans out this was his first year starting from day one

I guess it's not a horrible trade but it feels like they could of waited till the winter and gotten more

you have no idea if they were actually offered. just because their name was mentioned doesnt mean shyt. a middle of the rotation young starter with the potential to get better and under cheap team control til 2019 is exactly what the rays like. tigers get price for one and a half years at 20 million. thats what they wanted. both teams did fine

the tigers are in ultimate "win now" move and the rays capitalized on that while the tigers get one more start closer to the world series

we have no idea what was acually on the table for price. hes on the hook for 20 million next year. some teams probably werent willing to give up the farm for that. max wont be back next year. price slides into his spot. tigers have a 2 year window to win a title. then its probably rebuild mode. the biggest winner in the trade is the m's, getting jackson while only parting with franklin. thats a huge w for seattle
