Tell me one thing on the basketball court Duncan does better than Robinson?

Who is the better scorer?
Who is the better defender?
Who is the better passer?
Who is more athletic?
Who is more skilled?
Who is the better shooter?

Literally everything favors Robinson. The only reason Duncan is more highly thought of is because he was fortunate to be coached by Greg Popovich for his entire career. And Pop has been able to make the Spurs championship contenders every year for the last 18 years.

Robinson was coached by Larry Brown and then pop. By the way Duncan is the better defender, passer, more skilled and better shooter.

Duncan played in a weaker era of centers. All he had to deal with was Shaq (who bodied him when they matched up).

Duncan also benefited from being hidden under that PF designation when he's really a center.

He also benefited from Pop. Just like Kawhi Leonard is right now benefiting from Pop.
Shaq, KG, Dirk, Webber, Malone, Yao, etc

Yeah real weak comp

D-Rob was a lot more athletic than Timmy...

There's no way you watch D-Rob and Timmy and came to some of these conclusions. Duncan's footwork and post game is far better than D-Rob. :gucci:

Robinson was not even a strong post player. Duncan is also the better midrange shooter, defensively its pretty much a wash they are both cream of the crop defenders with massive impact.

I think Duncan is better overall but Robinson was better at his peak imo.

show me the evidence.

David Robinson averaged more blocks and steals per game for his career than Duncan. He also shot a better FG%, 3FG%, and FT% than Duncan. David Robinson also has greater career highs in terms of PPG, RPG, APG, SPG, and BPG.

Whether its stats or video evidence, David Robinson far outpaces Tim Duncan in terms of skill and production.

I'm not asking who has the better basketball resume. That is obviously Duncan. He benefited from a weaker era and better supporting casts.

My question is who is the better pure basketball player. And according to your statement, that is Robinson. Because when you say who is better at their peak, you are answering who is the better pure player.

David Robinson is a better pure basketball player than Tim Duncan. PERIOD.

Production yes skill no. Duncan was asked to shoot a lot more jumpers and play from the high post more. Again stop with basic stats. Duncan was the anchor of a top defense even at the age of 37. Duncan was less about stats and more about winning.

That is weaker than a Young Shaq, Prime Hakeem, Prime Ewing, Prime Malone, and Prime Barkley.

And for the record, KG, Dirk, Webber, and Malone were PFs not centers. And regardless of the fiction that Greg Popovich created, Tim Duncan has always been a center at San Antonio since David Robinson retired.

To me the skills based on watching them play goes even more in favor of David Robinson.

Regardless of the metric whether its the eye test or numbers, David Robinson is simply better.

The only thing Duncan has on his side is the fact he played in a weaker era for big men so he able to accumulate for personal accolades than Robinson. And he also played for a better coach and GM so he had better supporting casts and thus more titles.

As a pure basketball player, David Robinson is better. Plain and simple.

:hhh: Duncan is arguably the best PF ever. The only guy better was Dream and the Dream use to embarrass Robinson. Not that that equates anything but there are levels of difference in the ability of Prime Duncan and Prime Robinson
