Did everything to change the perception of the tv network execs and sponsors...and kept that money rolling in so those contracts could get larger...

Stern took the league from a place where arguably its best player was making a million dollars a year to a place where kent bazemore...someone who is NOT the best player in the nba...is making what...13 or 14 times that ?

And make no mistake Stern had just as much to do with that as the talents of Jordan and Magic and Kareem and whoever else...

I don't think people in this thread understand how salaries in sports work...it's like people think there is just this infinite amount of money and sports leagues go to it and are like "hey lets pay a guy who use to make 3 million a year 13 million a year"

HE said the 'FANS' not the owners/tv execs. Nice goal post movement though, Besides, jordan got paid 33 million per year before requiring players to wear suits, AI jerseys sold like crack in the 80's before they wore suits.

:aicmon:

And yet I suppose Stern thinks there's nothing wrong with stripping "people of color' of their identity (see: dress code) to make the NBA more palatable for White America.
All that needs to be said is Bomani Jones' discourse on the whole situation.

MLB, NHL: predominantly white, no college restrictions, less restrictions on outside drug use

NFL, NBA: predominantly black, college mandatory, random drug tests, etc. etc.

For someone who has "done a lot for people of color," he sure hasn't done a lot for people of color.

just think of all the millionaires that the nba has spawned....and the lives that have been touched because of it

just saying :yeshrug:
This is some bullshyt logic.

I don't care how many millionaires he created, he helped people like Donald Sterling become BILLIONAIRES

Do you see what the problem is?
It doesn't matter who he makes a millionaire, so long as his ultimate agenda helps promote bigots to positions of power.

And the fact that you fall for David Stern's tactics means you've never heard an actual high-level lawyer speak.
David Stern knows what he's done for african-americans. He knows how he's manipulated race narratives for his benefit. He knows if he'd really done as much for african-americans as guys like him say the do, Donald Trump probably wouldn't be in office.

And so, whenever someone comes at him, he already has in his mind every possible argument they could throw at him, and so many rebuttals to the point that you would never have enough airtime to get through them all. That's why David Stern, or Adam Silver, or whoever is the commissioner, and not some dude who grew up playing and coaching. It's always some guy who's super legalistic, that way they can twist the players into knots, and make them feel like they're getting a good deal when they're really getting fukked in the ass. And then once you do tell them, "Hey, I know you're just fukking me in the ass," they pull you aside, like a divorce lawyer, and whisper "Yeah, and there's nothing you can do about it."

fukk David Stern, if he makes a compelling argument, that's the whole point.
And if you want evidence that David Stern is a completely ruthless debater, here:

That's not him literally asking Rome if he still beats his wife, the point is, Rome is tangled. How do you respond? If he answers yes, then he still beats his wife, if he answers no, then it implies he's beaten his wife in the past but stopped. It's an old, classic, trick they teach in law school. Now do you think the kind of guy who speaks in real life that kind of way isn't a vile, conniving son of a bytch behind closed doors? That's exactly why he got hired in the first place. fukk 'em.

2 of those sports are highly profitable for colleges...its that simple

He did get NBA Players to stop dressing like 10 year olds

Went from

To

And that went a long way to changing the image of the NBA thus allowing the tv networks taking these guys serious and cutting them the record breaking money they're receiving today.

So I give him respect for that

But fukk him for that bullshyt as technical rule for being "demonstrative"..

it make the league look silly when you receive a tech for a stare down meawhile Baseball and Hockey are out here being priaised for fighting one another on television leveling it as "part of the culture"

I know what business is. How you benefiting from it Patna?
I personally dont fukk with the nba as entertainment or business... and if it wasnt for gambling, i wouldnt fukk with the nfl either.
Im just commenting on the nba's motives for changing the perception of the product it was putting to make a profit
