Dre is notoriously known for this. He took credit for developing G Funk when it was Above The Law who did it first.

I give Dre credit for G funk. I mean the rap version. G Funk primarily is classic R&B remixed. Above the Law was wack. They may have given him an idea and he ran with it, but their beats and rap were trash for the most part.

Dre just tried to get slick and take credit for everything after the first Chronic album. Dre essentially did like one or two songs on All Eyez on Me. NONE on Makaveli and these are both classics.

It's a shame though how ignorant nikkas can't be together. Imagine if Dre, Quik, Sam Sneed, and Daz made beats together? Nobody could've touched Death Row. But Suge Knight is the most ignorant bytch on the planet. Imagine is fagot ass p*ssy Puffy didn't set 2PAC up. Bad Boy would have been non existent.

well, dre was around above the law when n.w.a. was workin' on 100 miles and runnin' as well as nikkaz4life

hutch and them had been comin' up with that g funk sound and dre was able to capitalize off of it before above the law did

above the law = the creators of g funk

dre helped those guys out but above the law (big hutch) bought that g funk shyt to hip hop

you can't compare a track from 1993 to a track from 1996. different times and things change/d. people try different sounds and styles

if laylaw would've still be comin' with a song that sounded like strictly 4 my nikkaz in 96' he would've been :flabbynsick:

kokane spoke on how much dr. dre bit off him and above the law. even down to gettin' the aftermath name from them :skip:

yeah i know all about Hutch being the real inventor of G Funk, i just doesn't believe that Dre took 100 Miles N Runnin. i've heard Hutch talk about the G Funk thing a lot but i've never heard him say anything about 100 Miles N Runnin or anything from Efil4zaggin. i've heard him talk about how ATL had Snoop first and he even wrote Nuthin But A G Thang to Never Missin A Beat i think.
i might have the songs mixed up but Snoop was supposedly going to sign to ATL but they couldn't do it before Dre got DR going.

just never heard him bring up Dre taking material while at Ruthless, more so the G Funk ideas

Maybe it's me. But his first solo album was bomb. Those beats were ridiculous.

yeah :wow:

i don't know about takin' the whole 100 miles and runnin' ep but dre was definitely influenced by the new sound that hutch and them bought to the table

and yeah, snoop was rollin' with them at first but then decided to roll with dre once he got the call back from warren that dre wanted to work with them after hearin' their demo

Why do these dudes never make classics on thier own then?

Why after Dre left Death Row most of they shyt was trash then?

Dog food was dope but is nowhere near as dope as the chronic or Doggy style.

I don't buy Daz's and Suge's constant duck tales.

I came in here to address the usual question. If ___________ is so dope, why didn't he create ________ after he left Dre?

Andre is very self aware about his abilities, believes in quality control, & is a better business man then those guys.

In hiphop, most artists & producers create their best material early in their career, when they are very eager to show what they can do. They eventually decline. When Deathrow was created, Andre had already been a producer for YEARS. At this point in time, he was smart enough to gather ideas/concepts/beats/etc from very young unpolished, but talented guys in Daz & Warren G. A younger Andre was definitely capable of doing things from scratch, but as he got older, he was smart enough to rely on others to keep his brand strong. A lot of these guys eventually max out what they can do on their own creatively, & start to turn to ghost producers, ghost writers, etc. This is what Andre has done throughout the years. It also allows him to focus on the engineering aspect, which appears to be his biggest strength. Andre makes his shyt crisp & clean. You can not take that away from him.

Daz has made A LOT of good material after Deathrow. However, Daz doesn't have the brand awareness Andre has. Andre has always put out minimal material to protect his brand. Who knows what kind of garbage he may have in the vault. Daz got on his independent shyt he learned from JT & would just release anything. He started to treat music as a hustle as opposed to the craft. He's also a very unstable guy. However, he did put out good solo albums such as Raw & This Life I Lead off the top of my head.

Some of these guys like Daz & Scott Storch where just too unstable to create a brand like Dre did. They don't have the resources that Andre has. Andre could reach out to anyone in the game & I guarantee that majority of them would be interested.

Last thing

Does Andre really seem like he's above taking credit for someone's work?

This is extremely true. I compare Dre to Bill Gates somewhat. Both had creativity, but staying power because they fed off of other people's ideas and made it their own. Did Dre take beats? Of Course, but like you said he mad it crisp and clean. I mean seriously, there are very few sloppy Dr. Dre beats out there.

And how soopafly was playing keys and taking a lot of production himself in those early days

U wonder why daz aint produce nothin worth anything since.mike dean left him

His own cousin ain't want his beats lmao

Man stop :camby:
