I don't understand why we need a supergirl movie so close to the Superman movie.

Gunn revealed the Milly Alcock-led outing wasn’t always going to follow Superman directly. But, the quality of its script, written by Ana Nogueira, sped things up. Furthermore, Craig Gillespie also hopped on as director fairly quickly.

I believe the timing is perfect and kind of fate due to the reception of his Superman. A lot of young girls aren’t familiar with Kara but imagine if he can somehow get young girls to see themselves in her. It would be huge for DC.

From Gunn's mouth: The screenplay was so amazing and phenomenal that they made it next. He said every script in the DCU will be held to the same standards. They is no timeline. Only great scripts

tbh, we can find a better character for Aldis Hodge to play than reprising a race-bent Hawkman. Would rather they just leave that Black Adam stuff in the can.

Granted part of the challenge is once you get passed Stewart, Terrific, and the (non-Stack Shock) Milestone characters that may or may not be available, the pool of black DC heroes is a bit lacking. Esp the adult ones. Black Lightning, Cyborg, Steel... none of those inspire the imagination. Don't want to get into the Batman derivatives or multiverse superman stuff either.

So it wouldn't surprise me if they end up going with more very obscure black characters or the race bent route to accommodate more black actors in the sandbox
