I think at this point everyone realizes the failure of public schools...

Nah you'll be surprised. Whenever I'm dating a girl and we're discussing our future hypothetical kids 9 times out of 10 the girl would be vehement about sending our kids to school. Whenever home schooling is brought up the girl would get hostile. My future children's education is something of extreme importance. I can't procreate with a girl who willingly sends their children through a failed system.

Japan, but from the 989
Looks like we know where the underclass, minimum wage, low standards workers will come from. If these kids can't read now, they will have to learn later. The "education" system here knows that and these kids will stay in a cycle of "catching up" and not succeeding. They will be taken advantaged of by Rush Cards and for-profit colleges that will keep them in debt while they are pushed the luxurious lifestyle that they can't afford. Of course in their sadness they will fukk themselves silly, have kids, and teach them that you too can make it on a hope and dream. While the rest of us will look at them like idiots and continue making money off their labor. Welcome to America.

in today's education system the most important thing that determines academic performance is level of discipline, intelligence is secondary

what an illiterate parent can do is create a pro academic environment at home and establish discipline, and what the schools can do is reorganize the curriculum to take into account deficits in the home (parents that arent capable of creating a pro academic or disciplined environment) that is why in the black community the public school system has to be destroyed and rebuilt

but fundamentally its a cultural problem its not just parents, its parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, all that comprises black culture

black people have a culture where being a "real nikka" and high academic performance are considered separate things, until we change black culture where academics becomes part of the identity of being a black person, black students will under perform

now i see what you are all about...:heh:@ mental capacity being secondary to discipline within the context of learning...

people can try to make it such, but school is not an intelligence test, when it comes to school discipline is definitely more important, unless you are a legit retard or a genius that doesnt need to study, GPA is more a measure of how hard you work then your intelligence

:heh: at the notion that school is hard

The NAEP test is far more difficult than the assessment test given by any state. That is why the scores are so low for every city/state. Personally, I think that it should be the only assessment test instead of the myriad of tests that we have now, that way we would have one standard.

Also, with just one standardized test, there would be less confusion over what the results mean. These results do not mean that 83% of the students are illiterate. Finally, since 2002 the scores have been rising, slowly but realistically. In 2002, 90% of 8th graders did not meet proficiency standards. The improvement for 4th graders is even more impressive.

Has nothing to do with the quality of education they received. It has everything to do with toxic black culture and the lack of any parental support. :snoop:

Most people aren't trained educators so you could always hire a private tutor/teacher. Sending a black kid to a public school is the absolute WORST thing you can do.
Bullshyt. If you're a black parent with a good head who understands the value of education, you would have no problem sending your child to a public school. You're making excuses for black failure.

I don't know if black culture is toxic, because black culture isn't just one set of rules because we are all over the place culturally. But lack of any parental support or better yet parental support from a bunch of SORRY mothafukkas can ruin kids as well. (I got a cousin right now, not graduating from PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL because he believes Jesus will show him the way his singing career...) and his momma is supporting him...nikkaS.
