I don't know if black culture is toxic, because black culture isn't just one set of rules because we are all over the place culturally. But lack of any parental support or better yet parental support from a bunch of SORRY mothafukkas can ruin kids as well. (I got a cousin right now, not graduating from PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL because he believes Jesus will show him the way his singing career...) and his momma is supporting him...nikkaS.
Much of black culture is toxic. Let's not delude ourselves. Where is the positivity? It's all getting turnt up, worshipping white fashion designers, and killing other black men.

That is the culture of black America in many cities.

You have to know where to look..That's the culture for many poor to middle class Black American cities with nothing to do. But there are other areas where the Black Fathers meet on golf courses in the middle of the day to discuss business. Or some go to their kids recitals. I know it seems like we are all turning up or somethin but the rest of us are taking advantage of the opportunities presented. We have too many nikka examples to fail like the rest of them. Let them nikkas be nikkas. The rest of us want the world.

Gospel singers don't make any money. That's why so many start their own church or the more popular ones do a reality show.

Your cousin sounds like that kid who turned down Harvard to go to FAMU, then dropped out of FAMU to go to an unaccredited seminary. He wants to transfer to another college but FAMU won't give him his transcript because he owes $15,000. Oops.

There is something fundamentally wrong with black people in this country and that is even an understatement to be honest.
I can't put my hands on it but this anti-intellectual/academia attitude has to change very quick or we are in for some massive problems down the road.

People have to be careful about generalizations. Most of my friends are black and majority are college educated or have graduate level education. They are real active in their kids lives.

Those are in the minority.
Majority of blacks don't fit in the category you described. In matters like these your personal experience can not be applied.

Bullshyt. If you're a black parent with a good head who understands the value of education, you would have no problem sending your child to a public school. You're making excuses for black failure.

Why do you feel so strong about public school? Inner city schools just train black kids for the prison system. Why would you send your child to that?

yep a lot of public school spend a lot of time discipline. I swear looking back at my high school experience, a lot of it was prison conditioning for some individuals.

They had random searches. Bells that everyone had to follow, detention sweeps. :snoop:

There's a problem here.

The source in the OP is a far right wing shyt rag that features commentary from such socio-political "luminaries" as Michelle Malkin, Levin, and Charlie Daniels. The article in question is an agenda-consumed mess that jumps right into personal subjective commentary, and provides no link the findings from the study these numbers supposedly derive from. At the end the article is a tacky grift message begging for contributions from readers. In short, the source provided by the OP is highly questionable (we'll ignore the fact that they are railing against govt. and yet using a govt study).

So I googled "DC schools, 29,349 per pupil"...again, the only sources that repeated this "study" were far right wing websites like free republic, WND, and for good measure sites like st0rmfr0nt and blogs that titled the article "the govt. spends 30,000 on the negro student".

So while Im not going to jump the gun here and accuse the OP of being a stromfront plant, I'd like for him or her to provide us with a link to the actual study, or a site that at least has a passing interest in objectivity and serious journalism, while also not maintaining an interest in racist groupthink. Thanks.

It's odd to me when I see poor reading stats. I learned how to read by using CD-Roms on a cheap computer. I'd just sit there and play the reading games and I was always an excellent reader. Same thing with math. I just say there and played the games all day and got good at math.

So if you throw 30k at a student and he can't read, but you throw a $30 simulation at another kid and he can read well, what's that saying?

:ohhh:

I don't know about the "29,349 per pupil" number. But i have heard on the news here locally, that DC leads the nation in per capita spending on education.
