I have a hard time taking her seriously as Kara. I thought the casting was odd and the trailer confirmed it.

What you're describing is the old Hollywood system which hasn't existed since the 60s when a studio would have exclusive rights to an actor. The way multi-film contracts work now is that they're locked into a particular project or franchise. Therefore those actress contracts with one film/tv franchise has no connection to their contracts with another. Isabela Merced has no exclusive contract with WB. If she was she wouldn't be staring in a non-WB film, Psyche, that's coming out next year.

He ain't a niche character. He's known enough and Jason will have people interested. I think he's perfect for the role.
I think that they're saving him for the full trailer. Jason Momoa is somewhat of a box office draw and the most well-known actor in the movie (so they would be dumb not to show more of him).
Lobo won't have a prominent role in the movie, though.

Milly looks goofy as f*ck in the suit. She also is too small. She's not giving me Supergirl vibes
I'll still watch the movie, but... damn. Hopefully, the full trailer gives me a better impression

Sinestro has already been cast in the DCU (Ulrich Thomsen), and he will appear in the Lanterns HBO show next year. Bill doesn't give me Sinestro vibes though, regardless.

I'm reading Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow now and I'm 75% done with it. Reading this comic has made me more excited to see this film. Even though this film is directed by somebody else, the comic feels like a James Gunn film, so I can definitely see why he wanted to adapt this comic. The comic had more laugh out loud moments than I expected. I really loved the reimagining of the the destruction of Krypton and can't wait to see it on-screen.
I just rewatched the trailer and it definitely lines up with the feel of the comic with two exceptions.
1. The comic is more colorful, but the movie doesn't show the various planets Kara and Ruthye visit, so I wouldn't be surprised if the movie is a little more colorful than the trailer lets on. However, since the comic goes to some thematically dark places, I also wouldn't be surprised if they toned down the color due to it being hard to depict somber scenes with vivid colors overpowering the emotional ambiance of the scene.
2. Supergirl in the comic comes off as a woman more in her early 30s, while Milly looks more 19-23ish. Movie adaptations are rarely one-to-one comparisons with the comic. so I don't mind them taking a few liberates with Supergirl's depiction. In the trailer Milly's personality is mostly the same as comic Supergirl.
All in all, the comic has me really hyped for this film. Anyone who's into comics should really check out Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

Isn't she 21 in the comic? That's what I've read online. In the movie teaser, they say that she's 23, so they've actually slightly aged her up in the movie.
Anyway, the teaser made me less hyped for the movie. Hopefully, the full trailer entices me, but for now, meh.
