Same situation here. Had a hookup so I got WAY more ring than I would have normally gotten but i spent more than than suggested. Hit the cashier with a bunch of hundreds likeI saved cash and spent more than that...but I have no debt, career is upwards, I'm solid and everything is paid forso....to each their own, but don't spend it if you can't afford it.

Now that the whole thing is over (wedding and all), I feel great about the purchase. She loves it and gets multiple compliments daily and I'm not in debt.
