Dude, I know how awful ESPN is. Its the worst, by far...and ESPN begging for mercy gives my pale white irish ass jollies....

However

This crusade by the blogosphere, who we KNOW generates hits off of taking ESPN to task...is fukking stupid too. They couldnt give two shyts about the players...all they care about is taking it to ESPN...and this concussion story is a fukking layup for them. Big picture, this doesnt do any good for anyone.

Another thing, its a shytty reality but....its 2013.....anyone, any public interest group, any corporation.... isnt going to bite the hand that feeds them. They know how hard it is out there. Security > integrity. Always.

I agree that Deadspin and similar blogs are probably too quick to attack ESPN for every little thing.

But this is NOT one of those situations. This strikes at the heart of ESPN as a news gathering organization. If it's true that the NFL asked them to remove themselves from the investigation (in an effort to diminish what is a potentially explosive story), and that they obliged, then it will cripple what is left of their reputation.

News organizations are different than corporations, interest groups, etc. Objective, unbiased coverage is the single most important factor in their existence.

I'd love to see where Barry Petschky's father works.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I actually have very strong opinions about Deadspin and the "hipster" movement, which has come to encompass something different and far more sinister than it initially did, when it was just silly and corny.

Isnt that the glory of the internet? There's always another layer to expose.

I dont think there's any question the NFL asked them to.

They attack the NCAA sure. They attack the safe angles though. Womens rights is a hands off topic. Deadspin are the guys who go after the guys that question Title IX.

I at least skim Deadspin on a near daily basis, and I recall no evidence of this.

The Title IX thing was made up on my behalf. This didnt actually happen....but just regarding their take on the Jason Collins thing...I'd imagine this would be their overall opinion if such an argument were to arise.

Gawker runs deadspin....anything that might resemble a non liberal talking point...well that writer would be persona non grata effective immediately.

How does ESPN not participating damage their cred, when they were like the first ones chronicling it?

Just not looking forward to the hit piece coming from PBS and the likes of Deadspin and every other over the top politically correct outlet fapping to it. I love the sport. The sport is extremely dangerous. Can we leave it at that?

Not when cats are shooting themselves because of it. Bowing out of this documentary because of NFL pressure says everything about ESPN's journalistic integrity.

Remember when people were all cool with Fox News was in bed with the Bush administration? Yeah, me neither.
