There's nothing Ayton can do that wins the Lakers a chip. He isn't that guy and the Lakers aren't that team.

I get why they signed Ayton as he came cheap and is certainly a better option than what they had but they needed a big that catches lobs off the pick. Ayton loves doing that pick and pop mid range. World of difference between him and Gafford/Lively.

I have no idea why they just didn't go forward with the Mark Williams trade, especially if you're trying to compete with Bron still there

all the potential in him is gone. what you get is a relatively athletic 7 footer who wont do much special. joining the team of the much better player he got drafted over wont do him any good psychologically. in portland, he missed games due to icy road conditions and not having a good bed - he will continue looking for ways to let you down when he starts dealing with that big city sports media. he is only good for his size, not a difference maker.
