And the problem with that is most people will bash it after playing it for a few hours when it's said the game changes after about 40 hours into a different game.

I can’t speak on the quality of the game but are you saying it’s acceptable for a game not to pick up until 40hrs in?

He's mistaken. The game can be beaten in 40 hours or so. It doesn't take 40 hours to get good lol.
