Where to even start

Once again, generalizing is gonna get the OP in trouble. A person can be religious and do things that benefit the black community. Maybe @Napoleon is just addressing the extremist view of those who just leave everything in God's hands and follow the hardline close minded path of faith, thinking every Christian is like that. Maybe he forgot that the same tool that's created the mental slaves has been the guiding light for some of us, even going back to the days of slavery and the use of spirituals.

I don't think it is a question with a yes or no answer. My best answer is probably "not effectively". I can only speak from the perpective of AAs and Christianity though.

You can be an affective force if your focus is in order. For example, you can start a gun club.. train young dudes in technology, even build w brothers who don't agree with you religious views because you personal belief is irrelevant in most settings. I don't think if you're training some young dudes on software development or financial literacy that it even matters if u are or aren't a Christian.

We all know where we learned christianity from. We all know that the religion we hold so tightly now in our community was used to justify our enslavement. And thats usually all I say on religion.

All these religions started in aFrica... We are brainwashed by a cac version of Christianity -- I agree with that.. but a Christian isn't a automatic c00n for believing... And that doesn't mean he can't build. .... As we see with history.

I think the issue goes beyond that( a historical context means nothing to our modern society which seems to have very little capacity for placing things into one ) and will look beyond my own reasons for shunning religion.

You can't say a historical context means nothing.....and still be aware of all the social situations in america and conflict situations around the world. We have no legit reason to Shun religion or spirituality.. We had that before white people even existed on Earth and will have that after they are gone. Technically the OP is a c00n post.

I agree that in the position we have religion needs to go. Just the idea that your values and understanding are so fixed - not set by evidence but indoctrination - that you will never hold yourself or your own community as highly as you hold this guy you will meet when you die is not a good luck when you have not prospered first.

Ideas and values are fixed .... .whether we are speaking on religion, politics, or any idea or concept. That ALL depends on the person. There are people who were raised Christian who are now Muslim. Raised Muslim who are now atheist. non religious to Christian.. Democrat to independent. Only the lost dumb and deaf are stagnant in their views... Some people actually hold their views for good reason. Our people holding on to false ideas of Jesus --- has more to do with cac brainwashing and poverty than the idea of religion itself.

I think it can work depending on the religion. I will never be religious though.

never say never..... and the point is.. that it doesn't really matter what you are spiritually you can still be pro black.

I'm not open to superstitious thoughts, ideas, or concepts.

People who are demonstrate, especially at a certain age, an inability to think critically and rationally and can't be truly trusted (in my eyes) to make the best decisions they can on behalf of the greater community.

Do you not realize that black Muslims in America helped black people to not think of themselves as mules? They were some of the first and def the most effective of instilling black pride in the masses in the first place. You think Malcolm X was the only one? Or do you of course think X is a c00n too?
