First off Rick Rubin is one of the dopest producers ever, in hip hop AND metal. As far as I'm concerned he has more than earned respect in this genre.

Those execs...honestly if they were 40+ yo black people would it be better? All I see is old people, and it's not surprising given how out of touch Def Jam is. Creatively they seems bankrupt right now. As do a lot of other labels.

Disgusting! cacs have no shame whatsoever. It'll take a massive effort to get them off our backs.

Although I do agree that Rick Rubin is a genius when it comes to production

Business wise...he falls short...that's where Lyor Cohen comes in..although he is the DEVIL PERSONIFIED. .Lyor is adept at having the insight to create revenue streams and longevity for artists in regards to branding and tapping into movements

As Hustle Simmons said LYOR SAVED DEF JAM

blacks are the only race in the world that can create an billion dollar movement from stretch and decades later have it own by whites and jews....and now the artist gotta kiss white rappers ass to get on because the performers arent even black no more hahaha

It's been said that Jigs got that president position because he "informed" some higher ups about Dame, Suge, J Prince and Irv's meeting about the infamous black distribution plan. Don't know if I believe that, but it seems very possible. If true, Jigs is the worst kind of sellout.

I've gotten numb to seeing photos like that cause that what it is in companies like that. I counted 4 people of color in that photo (I peeped a black girl arm in the bottom left) which is still bad but I've been in at dinners for companies and I'm only black person there period.

The only thing that got to me was how old these people looked. That don't have any younger people on payroll?:mindblown:

Like how are you gonna promote hip hop to a young audience when you don't have any young people there?

Lyor is a great businessman, I really don't view Rubin as a businessman. Lyor is a snake but...so is nearly everyone in the music industry. You're rarely gonna find honest guys like Steve Rifkind or No I.D. in music.

That's my problem with Dame's racial bullshyt. Your color doesn't stop you from stealing from the next man. It didn't stop Diddy from fleecing Biggie while smiling in his face. It didn't stop LA Reid from signing TLC to a poverty deal. Didn't stop Irv Gotti from caking off Ashanti. You gotta understand that the people who make their way to the top do so by hustling. It's all a game, and everyone plays it. Just watch in a few years Meek and Wale will be dissing Ross for stealing from them.

The realest shyt I heard a record label associate say is that he loved the game because he likes hustling hustlers. This dude (white) noted that so many rappers claim to be master hustlers, yet it's easy as fukk to hook them with an advance and paperwork they don't even read. Or if they read it, they hire a lawyer down the street from the label, a lawyer who is friends with someone at the label and thus willing to steer the artist into a bad or semi-bad contract.
