well boo hoo then. Im not sure you are following my points

your solution in this case: bow down to qb suck his dikk and throw money at him
my solution: build a bully on defense and get a new qb
Get a QB from where nikka??

From where??

Teams don't let good QBs get to free agency :what:

Where you gonna get him from?

seattle started by building a defense first and then getting a qb in third round

once earl and sherm fall off they wont be sniffing offs
cant wait :heh:
And that QB's contract needed to be addressed and now that QB is making $20 million per

:russ:

remind me your solution btw- pay whatever the qb wants, right ?
reason #130123901290 why its great being a qb in the league and shytty for any other position
shyt you even get a blank check from people like Trip

You could critique the Graham trade but the Seahawks specifically have done a good job at retaining their talent and letting the right guys walk.

none of those qbs will get cut precisely for the same reason youre fapping to these qbs right now. they will get their full contract value.

von miller should be getting the same money the best qb is getting; any dominant elite player at their position with multiple all-pros deserves to get the same as other elite players at any other position. but theyre not.
Jay Cutler is getting cut and the end of this season and will never see the end of that contract..

And no you are wrong.. Very rarely do ANY players play out the entirety of their contracts to the end because teams move the bigger years of the contract to the back end in order to create cap space and flexibility in the beginning to sign other players..

You guys are looking at it wrong. It's a mixture of all that, but the constant is the two lines. If a team has a shytty o-line, it doesn't matter how good the QB or the skill players are. They won't accomplish shyt. Look at the O-lines. A single weak link can be exploited by a good d-coordinator. Especially in the interior. If your center sucks or can't hold his own, that QB is food. Teams like the Giants last night constantly collapse up the middle. That shyt ain't gonna fly against a good defense. I'm rambling lol

This is so true. You give an average QB time and he's gonna make plays. You stay in a great QBs face (especially without having to blitz) he's gonna make mistakes. Not matter how complex the game gets it still comes down to a very simple principle...who can impose their will on who in the trenches.

To the overall point of the thread, most people just prefer to fap to QBs. Many cannot really understand the game outside of that prism thanks to the movie narratives the media likes to run with. It's clear to anyone that is trying/able to see. This is one of my favorite facts, that often goes ignored:

Last 10 years

Peyton, Brady, Brees, Rodgers 5 chips
Flacco, Russ, Eli, Ben 5 chips

Great QBs are not overrated. They can indeed cover for all kinds of deficiencies and carry you year in and year out. However, the overwhelming majority of QBs are not great or anywhere close to it. So treating/paying every guy like he's great just because he's a QB and "you gotta have a QB" and "bu...bu..but who you gonna replace him with" is just asinine and never works out. Yet somehow you still have fans, media members, and worst of all...orgs riding with this bullshyt year in and year out no matter what actually happens.

The teams who consistently make the playoffs aka regular season sustained success all have the QB in place.

Also, organizations that hitch their wagon to the wrong QB get GM's and coaches fired. Tannenbaums about to get fired for doing it twice.

Teams that consistently miss the playoffs aka not sustaining regular season success do too.

Who? Miami, Chicago and Detroit have all undergone regime changes because they backed the wrong guy. If Osweiler bombs you'll see Smith and Obrien canned too.

Not sure what regime changes have to do with what I have said. You got the teams you listed, Dallas, Atlanta, Chargers, Saints and Giants have become that. Meanwhile the best teams are the ones that can still compete when the QB they have in place is out for whatever reason.

The Qb's for those teams listed are all good players. I still have yet to see anyone explain how their contracts are preventing their respective organizations from drafting better players on defense though. All of those teams have retained their best defensive players.

Some of them...yes. Some of them...not so much. But that's actually my point. You can have a good QB and still miss the playoffs year in and year out if you don't have the proper team around them. This ain't basketball...one stud can't single-handedly change your fortunes and carry you (unless he's GOAT tier). It's better to have a thorough all around team and be iffy at QB than it is to have a stud (or a purported stud) at QB and be iffy all over. Getting your QB should not be the first step, it should be the last...or just part of the process.

didn't they go to the playoffs and win a playoff game too :jbhmm:

what did the 2000 ravens do :jbhmm:

didn't butt fumble sanchez go to two straight CC :jbhmm:

what did last years broncos do with payton manning throwing 17 ints :jbhmm:

didn't we see alex smith go to a CC :jbhmm:

how about tom brady's first ring :jbhmm:

or russell wilson's :jbhmm:

lets not act like game managers with elite defenses ain't winning out here breh

but all and all

Yes a great Defense can beat a team with an elite QB and no great Defense or nothing else.

But a great defense aint beating a COMPLETE TEAM.

A team with a GREAT DEFENSE, Elite QB, strong running game, and killer WRs, and great kickers will be a team with only a great defense any day

These teams aint going 0-0 ties and no guarantee teams with only Great D can get that "Pick 6" combo or "Fumble 6" combo. Relying on your D to get points is silly.
