I don't follow this stuff much but can anyone explain what's going on with Pop/Spurs? They've been bad or meh for so long at this point. Winning 5 chips buys you immunity until you retire but man...this treadmill of irrelevance has to be rough.
You prob aren't getting a big free agent in SA and if you win just enough games to not be in the lottery, you prevent yourself from ever getting another seminal player. Then again they got Kawhi when the team was good, and still fukked that up.

They seem to need new blood all around. But since their system was successful for so long the organization is reluctant to changing things. They probably forgot it was all built around an all time great player with multiple hall of famers. They had their time tho.
Spurs are embracing the rebuild and the culture that will come with it...the failure of the DeRozan/Aldridge era was probably the turning point
Kawhi has a degenerative condition that the Spurs were spot on about in regards to load management and him being in pain for the rest of his career....no matter how grimy it was, nephew and uncle Dennis put themselves in a situation to get max dollars and hold a franchise hostage
Dejounte isnt a max contract guy and got sent to a good situation in Atlanta..he is in his feelings..that's all this is..

I’m glad he passed up that deal, it brings me joy to watch them suffer in purgatory. It’s wonderful…..
