i have no idea what the analogy is here.
Nigeria won gold in 96. They had one of the more talented teams in 98 for the World Cup. They lost of course. I wouldn't say they are the best team in the based on what they did in year's past when the competition is much better now. 96 didn't have Zidane or Henry. 98 did. Just stating.

@mastermind thinks Dixon being short and small means i think Harrison's are better. No! I think he would have trouble getting his shot off like Grant experienced yesterday. That's what I think. I loved Dixon's passion and drive for the game. One of my favs to watch but this Kentucky squad isn't 02' Duke. There is no Duhon at SG here. These are legit SG's in the NBA. You simply can't compare.

I dismissed your view becuse you called two top teams mediocre.

ignore him.
I misspoke about the OU team. They were really good that year. AZ wasn't that great. The point is that Maryland's strength was their guard play and four different teams were able to figure them out. Twice they even got blown out.

You don't get it, there's levels to this shyt. Everything ain't equal is all I am saying. UNLV and this Kentucky team would destroy Maryland 02. This is the same team that blew a 22 point lead in 01 in the Final Four. The gap between Larry Johnson and Juan Dixon is massive. Can you even say Dixon was better than Matteen Cleaves?

Maryland was actually an inside-out team.

We just had great guards but Baxter and Wilcox were the keys to the offense.

Like I said, if you dont know what you talking about then its fine.

:rudy: no matter how many times you try to dismiss the fact by trying ME, the fact remains they got blown the fukk out twice. They don't belong in this discussion. Deal with that (not with me) and then maybe we can move on to the point of this thread. Only a real all-time great team can fukk with this UK squad.

Not saying Maryland wouldn't win, I am saying it would be more like Villanova beating Ewing's Hoyas than Duke beating the Fab Five in the title game. It would have to be a miracle.
Well I initially said Maryland 2002 wouldn't beat these guys, so I agree with you there. Was just wondering why you would say the game has changed. If anything, those early 2000 teams were better fundamentally and way more experienced.

Those 2000's teams weren't not more fundamentally sound than today's Wisconsin or Notre Dame. Maybe Kentucky or UNLV but those teams have such a clear talent advantage.

and 1995-96 Kentucky, aka everyone GAWD team, got blown out twice in 1996. (and they did get blown out)

Lets remove them from this consideration too.

No, they didn't get blown out. Lost by 10 to Umass (final four team) and 11 to Miss St (final four team). Are you serious?

Not by 16. Not by 21. Not 4 times.

And you know why '96 UK has a place in this conversation - the talent and the numbers - the margin of victory, the points/game, etc. They were truly dominant.

right, I know you didnt watch those games.

MIss State went up by 20 late in the 2nd half and UK made up the points in garbage time.

UMass had a big lead as well in their gamae and UK made up the points in garbage time.

Just quit already. You're sounding lame at this point.
