there is a lot of trashing of dude going on in here which again proves NBA players are damned if they do/dont. here is a guy who embraced an organization that cant get free agents. I really doubt Kahwi signs there, there are better opportunities for him East and West. he was wanted to be a Raptor forever. yes, its a business but he was the best player in their history and he committed to them so you have to think this could hurt the Raptors down the line.
I dont think he is hurt so much about the trade but about the lack of communication. To be fair though, Toronto just found out a couple of weeks ago they would even be a serious threat to land Kawhi....its been Boston and Philly talk up to that point....but Masai shouldve been talking to him telling him they he is involved in talks. I get it....Masai didnt want to spill it because if the deal goes through then you have a player that feels unappreciated and now he may want out just because of that. So it was not an easy way to do this on Toronto's behalf.
As far as Demar improving...he can. Casey babied him on defense, he wont be babied in SA. Also he will be working with Chip Engelland so his shot will improve. He should have a chip on his shoulder for sure now and I think the Spurs have a better team around him for the most part.
As far as the Bron statment. It was a bad look to say it, but its the absolute truth. No one has beaten Bron in the East in 8 years. So its not just Demar. Lebron is the reason why East All Stars get traded. Butler, PG13, Millsap, Demar, etc...That Hawks team had 4 All Stars that year and Bron made em break that whole team up. He shouldve never said that because you dont get a trophy for beating Lebron.
The Raptors arent going to win anything, they just arent because the NBA is still about relationships. They fire the COY and then trade their most loyal player. I am not saying they are wrong for any of this but they are taking serious gamble that this is going to work out and the odds are stacked highly against it. Demar's agent could put Toronto towards the bottom of his list in terms of shopping his clients to.
