he's the executive of a hugely important state, despite its shortcomings. he's experienced, he'll be running on the standard Dem platform (progressives want to pretend it's gonna hugely differ between candidates, but it won't) . he'll do well with white women and hispanics. and he plays the part well, no one would have a hard time imagining a president Newsom. he's absolutely a credible presidential candidate

which was one of Kamala's shortcomings, that we never unburdened. who the hell watched and listened to kamala harris and thought "most powerful person on earth" :unimpressed:
He Jeb bush status once primary starts, right now he has no attack dogs going at him

why? do you believe foreign policy is an illegitimate criteria for assessing political candidates?
no, just less important than domestic

especially when your bad-faith definition of policy critique, is falsely blaming american politicians for a foreign war

though i guess when you live in Estonia, all policy is foreign policy :ehh:

To add to what I said, there is a reason why we are going back and forth between the parties. Neither party has interest in the upheaval this nation wants. Obama had the chance in 2008, and he decided to bailout Wall Street and banks instead of people who needed it.

Trump had a neocon first term and then people are yelling they don't want a gestapo if it means a shyt economy.

Newsom isn't offering anything different.
Yep, this is the fundamental dynamic of modern American society that the political elite class and their Centrist Lib bootlickers are either incapable or unwilling to acknowledge. This country is on a slide of terminal decline. Qualitative services keep getting worse, the topline economic trends are completely untethered from the lived experiences of everyday people, the political system is basically unresponsive to public opinion, the average person feels like things aren't going in the right direction. Which is why for the past 20 years every election has been a change election, and will continue to be so until one party or candidate actually follows through on creating that change that people can feel in their lives. But to do so requires political courage and the Democrats are fukking pussies who would rather lose while maintaining their corruption-gilded post-political career options than do something that would cause an oligarch stomach aches.

no, just much less important than domestic policy
Well surely that depends on the respective domestic and foreign policies on the table. The Vietnam War and the War in Iraq were both election-deciding issues, and I doubt you would say that they were less important than domestic policy. It seems like you just don't think slaughtering tens of thousands of brown kids is a big deal. Others disagree.

Not even the American politicians themselves are saying they are not instrumental in the prosecution of this "war" by an American vassal state. Biden and Trump themselves would bend over backwards to say their administrations were the greatest supporters Israel has ever seen, so your glazing of these Presidents is really not necessary. Not a single serious analyst of this situation believes the United States - and the office of the Presidency in particular - had or has no culpability for the events that unfolded in Gaza. Maybe you weren't paying attention, but to those of us who were, it is plainly obvious.

Not until you explain what the upheaval that this country wants is

This is your hallmark legislation, and he didn't use his position to fight for it.
how much money did you think he could spend? the first thing he did was pass the 1.9 trillion dollar partisan stimulus, with zero Republican votes. Manchinema showed up to get that passed, right?

then he passed the BBB, then he passed an infrastructure bill. then massive inflation kicked in :dead: are you at least willing to admit that Manchin had a point? is anyone in America happy with what all of this spending did to interest rates and housing?

Buzz City, NC :blessed:

the democrats were goaded into the shutdown from parts of the base with their incessant whining that they weren’t doing enough to oppose Trump. Now that same base is too stupid to understand that you can’t beat a suicidal psychopath in a game of chicken.

The Republicans wanted to inflict MORE pain on the American people to make the Dems cave, there was no way the republicans were going to buckle to pressure.

It would be like trying to get Hitler to stop the holocaust with a hunger strike.
