I'll spell this out very plainly for you because you evidently grew up in a house with lead paint.
The vast majority of voters who are predisposed to not give a fukk about the human rights of brown people are already in the tank for MAGA (as we can see in HL there are also racist anti-Palestinian voters within the Democratic voting coalition as well, but they are in the minority according to polling). The group of voters who could be mobilized/demobilized on the issue of genocide were potential Harris voters. By ALSO taking the unpopular position of supporting the genocide in Gaza, Harris lost out on potential voters who would have been in her camp. She prioritized fealty to Israel to the popular position within the Democratic voting coalition of being against genocide.
