The extent that you go to to absolve voters of any responsibility is honestly stunning.

Let’s be clear for what feels like the fifteenth time. We’re talking about Democratic voters. So why do you keep veering off into conversations about Republicans and Republican aligned voters. The issue here is that people inside the Democratic Party are telling you directly that they’re done pledging loyalty to a party that demands complete concessions, concessions that keep nudging the country toward authoritarian outcomes while never resolving the underlying problems.Instead of taking that seriously, you’re more upset at the voters who are refusing to support someone they see as sympathetic to authoritarian politics. Meanwhile, it’s becoming painfully obvious that the party leadership is more aligned with the authoritarian tendencies of Donald Trump than they want to admit. That’s why Newsom keeps going on platforms run by open white supremacists ... not once, but repeatedly, and ends up agreeing with them more than he agrees with people in his own party.If anything, the voters are reacting to a party that keeps signaling it’s more comfortable courting right wing extremists than listening to its own base. We needed a democrat civil war which is why the dnc should have released the autopsy. I haven't even gotten into the mamdani Eric adams shyt, the party was openly hoping someone whom was loyal to trump would win over someone slightly to the left Absolutely disgusting

There used to be an understanding that you were going to work with flawed people and a clear acceptance of it when trying to move forward. The difference is that MLK was an activist, and many people supported him. He could come to the table and change things.

The modern Democratic Party don't care about the people, but the capitalist class and capitulates to things in order to favor capital. It's not the same.

I have no idea what you’re babbling about. I voted for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris . If I had some kind of “purity test,” clearly it wasn’t strong enough. I voted for Biden even after he pretended to make concessions to the left, only to turn around and act exactly like the party has acted for the last forty years.... promising change, then claiming their hands are tied the second they get power.At some point, how many times do voters have to get played before they finally take a stand. I genuinely feel bad for everyone with student loans who believed Biden when he said he wanted to cancel them, only for him to drag the process out long enough for the Supreme Court to block it. Biden ran on raising mininum wage, free secondary education, free childcare and all kinds of nonsense he didn't accomplish or pretend to care about accomplishing. That’s the pattern: big promises, then a shrug and “there’s nothing we can do” once they’re in office. This is why the republican party has expanded their outreach over the last 40 years and now you have people believing that right wing authoritariansm is the only way to get back to the golden age.

Locally. City council level. It's a California city so it's all democrats and more or less boils down to pro-business Dems vs pro-people Dems. The constituency hates both sides in equal measure.

I’m not understanding this. Newsom is running in a primary and there are people who don’t want him to be the nominee for these reasons.

He isn’t president.

And he has stifled progress in California so there is a reason to be concerned.

Of course you have to compromise, but be aware that people want more. Yes, we should blame the voters, and I'm glad people are coming around to that.
