why cant it be both?

These aren't mutually exclusive.
If the districts are unwinnable it doesn't matter what platform they come with in gerrymandered districts.

I understand y'all hate the dems more than repubs (headscratcher) but y'all can't bash them for losing distorted districts.

If a progressive candidate runs in those districts y'all gonna bash them for losing too? :jbhmm:

The Democrats abandoned state parties

Lost state seats. Ran crap candidates to boot.

GOP did the opposite and won states left and right. Redrew districts to favor them. Got majorities everywhere. Implemented voter suppression in states.

So it's both

Bingo.

Bernie refused to support Ossoff in GA06 and potentially throw him over 51% in a race he nearly won outright before the runoff and even then he barely lost after the run off

Whose fault is that? @FAH1223 you're fukking tone deaf man :snoop:

yall gotta pick one to bytch about. either they are horrible politicians that cant get a good message out or the current set up is preventing them from winning
And what is the reason that both points can't be valid at the same time?

Edit: Should've kept reading, theres like 4 posts asking the same question. Daps to all:russ:

At this point, it's safe to say that GOP does identity politics through Trump's coded language. "Culture, values, history, etc" are all understood to be white. Even with people dying from heroin and opioids, white people are voting for their race, and Trump is their patron saint. Half the people who claim to hate him really voted for him. They lied. They view Democrats as being anti-white, and getting black folks mad over nothing, because they're fine with us suffering, they just don't want to hear about it.

That's why they hate Obama, and blame him for this "new racial tension". They've been trying to trick us into believing if you act a certain way, and achieve a certain level of success, that you will be immune to racism. Well, the Obamas were basically like, "Look, we're ivy league educated lawyers, and you can't get any higher than being president, and they still call us the n-word, so no black folks, you're not making it up in your head." That hurt white people's feelings. They say fukk our feelings, but we have to treat their feelings like precious jewels. I could go on, but then I'd be ranting.
This is why I rail against Sanders.

He didn't tamp down his clearly racist leftist supporters.

Most of his white supporters support his economic platform, but not his social platform

White people love socialism until this happens:

AND THE SON OF A bytch ISNT EVEN A DEMOCRAT after all this time!

shyt or get off the pot man.

People in difficult districts are fighting to survive and you're from sleepy-ass Vermont with no real demographic tension, your people are doing fine, you're in an unimportant lazy state and you're preaching to the rest of us.

What gives?

Yea, Dems gotta reach out in red spaces. It's not 100/0 out there, they can shift the balance in key races

But I think they would rather hold rallies in CA to tear down confederate monuments :snoop: Dems have yet to understand the concept of prioritization
Remember when ya'll chastised me for being upset with Bernie for not throwing full support behind Ossoff in GA06?

The dude won 49% of the vote in a tough district with like 12 candidates.

And this dude is supposed to support us?

The map looks like that because of stuff like this:
EXCLUSIVE: Wisconsin Dems furious with DNC for refusing to invest big money in Walker recall

MESSAGE!!!

Map is so ugly, but look, these people would rather go to cocktail parties in the acela corridor and LA then work on winning. No reason form MI, WI parts of PA to ever have a repub congressman.

The celeb resistance greatest accomplishment... is creating more repub voters.
Obama once said Dems need to move the suburbs as a joke.

Thats basically it.

Dems live in cities...you can't beat that map.

Clearly we have the popular vote but...

I'm not Trumpset. Just a very critical Dem who now realizes the damage done at the state level for the last 9 years might be permanent
At no point have you ever cared about being an actual democrat

80% of your commentary is basically shytting on pragmatism from the confines of your safe local urban district.

The voting machines weren't disrupted. The election commissions in those states have said so.

And POLITICO had a big article after the election about the unions noticing MI polls weren't reflecting the 4-5 point lead and they tried to get the Clinton campaign out there earlier but they refused.

The Democrats problems are bigger than that though. The fact that they don't control those states on a local level in the state legislature and/or the Governor is the real problem.
I sincerely believe the US Government is hiding potential hacks of the voter tallies.

They keep beating around the bush on the topic.

Clearly voter rolls were hacked.

All you've gotta do is stop a few hundred people in several districts from voting and voila...you don't have to "change votes" per se.

Yea, I feel like presidencies are won from the bottom up. And the GOP knows and exploits this.
Don't over think this.

Obama lost the moment he was "too black"

Everything became about tone-policing about how to "be properly liberal" enough.

You're seeing it with "liberals" like Mark Lilla. Proof that the "anti-identity politics" crowd means only white identity politics

I personally think the way forward is clearly a leftist agenda, with a few concessions like things on immigration...but Bernie CAN NOT be the face of that movement.

We are democrats, you must join at a minimum.

If they don't get a compelling message even that won't save them. People are tired of identity politics and crying about Trump. That shyt don't put food on the table cuz
Dems are BARELY doing identity politics. If anything, the Dems avoided ID politics this whole time and had to be dragged to acknowledging various cores of their base.

The whole notion that ID politics were a thing was always overblown.

Conservatives are the snowflakes they project everyone else to be. "how dare they not talk about me? All these identity politics!"

There is no reason why MI, WI dem strongholds for 50+ years should ever have a re pub majority at the state level. This was a systemic abandonment of everything that caused this. A democrat should never lose the upper midwest but that's what happens when you're only about SF, LA and the Acela Corridor.

50 state strategy. Start caring about Detroit and Chicago again.
