A bill to send monthly stimulus payments for the duration of the economic crisis, proposed by Representative Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) and Representative Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), is gradually gaining cosponsors, but it still needs more widespread support to pass and has garnered some Republican critics as well.

This is what I dislike about our politics. The dems know damn well something like this will never pass. They'll use this in their campaigns saying something like "you see, the Republicans don't care about you, vote for us!" While the repubs will play the whole the Democrats are socialist and we're one step away from becoming communist. No matter what the American people get screwed.

it's important to show where people stand and not leave room for any sort of juelzing by the opposition in the future. Every other first world country is providing stimulus relief to their citizens but the U.S is unwilling to cause of one sycophantic political party. republicans are waiting to see whose dying after things gradually open up and how many. They'll support a stimulus bill only if they see their voter base being threatened.

A lot of people loss their jobs and a lot of them were living paycheck to paycheck before this went down. Without the typical level of consumer spending the economy will suffer for much longer than it has to. The money provided by the stimulus is suppose to soften the blow to the economy while we battle this pandemic.

In your opinion what would "reasonable" legislation look like?
They would've fought harder the first go round instead of letting the Republicans lead the way giving a majority of the bailout to the corporations instead of the people that need it.
