Hield should have won this just like he should win every player of the year award. In the middle of the season it was close but Buddy pulled away near the end especially with Valentine missing those games.

Obviously Michigan State isn't an east coast school, but those writers/voters/influencers are all east coast and not staying up 2 extra hours or whatever it is to watch Oklahoma games of all things.

Just think it's moreso pre tourney bias. As much as Hield was getting all the headlines, Denzel was having just as big an impact with State during the regular season, to the point they were one of the favorites to win the tourney. That was mostly attributed to him on the players side, cause everyone got to see how that team looked without him when he went down. You know his impact on that team more than most on this site. Scoring had always been the sexy stat but feeling up the start sheet had been appreciated more lately. This result want crazy, and truth be told, Buddy still gonna win the wooden, which is the main poy award anyone really cares about.

I mean, I get it, dude put up 19/8/8 which is very difficult in the pros let alone college.

But Buddy has basically been the college Steph Curry this season. And he's still in the tourney. Gotta be worth something.

Valentines 3 point shooting was almost as good as Hield though

You also should put into perspective that Valentine numbers are also based on Michigan State playing against weaker competition as well,
