He's apparently a faq too...

If he take that Shyt seriously I don't know why the right script wouldn't make him into believable bad guy.
I mean I don't care if he's gay or not.
Ian McKellen is gay and I still loved The Lord of the Rings.

I just don't see how Will Smith has range.
Now if you said Johnny Depp has range, well sure. (but Depp sold out years ago).

I'm just saying, the right script he could do it justice.

But enough of this...it's a Denzel thread.

:ehh:
The thing with will smith is that he's too likeable as a character so I can't picture him playing a role where the viewer is rooting against him. Unlike denzel who became a true villian by the end of training day. Would like to see will play a villain tho just to see how he does.

EDIT: I think this mostly has to do with everyone remembering him as the fresh prince too.

SO was Tom Cruise before his antagonistic roles and Leo before Django. I personally think WIll can play a convincing, menacing villain, since he was that in After Earth: menacing and antagonistic.

But all in all, it's all about what roles these producers will give them. But at the same retrospect, it will be hard seeing Denzel in a comedic role (comedies, GOOD comedies, are the toughest to play).

I can't see will being able to play a gangster/hood character as well as denzel. Definitely nothing close to Alonzo in training day.
You may think Will is too clean for that type of role, and maybe so, but a different type of antagonist he can portray with efficiently.

Denzel has said that he is open to doing comedies but he rarely (or never) gets offered those roles.

Where did I say that Will is a better actor? I said he has more range. Can Will do every genre that Denzel can? Yes. Can Denzel do every genre that Will can? No. That doesn't mean Will has more talent, it means he has more range.

Which genre is it that Denzel can't do? Will is more AT HOME in comedy, but to say Denzel can't do what Will does is a bit inaccurate.
I don't think Denzel has done much, if any, Sci-Fi.. But I think he can pull that off too.

Yeah but even if he couldn't do Sci-Fi, who gives a shyt?

Have you actually seen some "amazing" acting in a sci-fi movie? Probably not. The very nature of those kinds of movies has people focusing on the story or the special effects.
Far and away, Alec Guinness was the best and most accomplished actor in Star Wars. Nobody gave a shyt about Obi Wan Kenobi's acting as much as they cared about the light sabers.

Denzel's an actor, Will's an entertainer, there lies the difference between the two. Will will go down as someone who entertained us and made us laugh rather than one who captivated us and blew us away with a memorable and powerful performance like Forest did in The Last King of Scotland or Denzel in Training Day. Could you ever see Will in one of those roles of course not. Will's become as stale as moulded cheese and can only play one type of character, "Will Smith has range" :bryan:
