Should let Kenny Smith coach the Knicks. He'd turn the franchise around.
He'd need control over roster decesions tho...

What? The guy is a bum and piece of shyt. He isn't and never will be an elite coach. You think he was on the verge of leading them to a championship? Cmon with the black coach bs. He is a joke of a coach.

Who's gonna lead the roster to a ch'ip? You a Euro? :mjpls:

Have you seen how bad the Bulls role players have turned out to be, and dudes wonder why Thibs never played them more. Actually the Spurs have had a bunch of "obvious talent on that bench", and you can't use them as the medium because they're an anomaly due to their scouting prowess, coaching development (not just Pop) and perhaps the best GM in all pro-sports for the last decade. Thibs felt the need to play a select FEW (I must stress FEW) a few more minutes each game to keep them in the best possible position of winning games, because the backups weren't capable of handling the load/keeping the intensity on defense.
I get that, but I think most teams have that problem. Guys are on the bench for a reason and the Bulls have some talent there. Its definitely a balance, but it seems Thibs was more paranoid about blowing leads then other coaches. We all remember Rose blowing out his knee in garbage time.

A Glimpse into Why Tom Thibodeau is so Crazy with Minutes

"You have to play tough with a lead," said Thibodeau. "Especially with the three point shot. A guy like [PLAYER'S NAME REDACTED], if you let him loose in a minute he can make three threes. I know you guys think all leads are safe. But in a minute, three threes can erase a 10-point lead. It’s funny. Every time I see him I think about it, particularly when I’m coaching against him. I’ve seen (Tracy) McGrady score 13 points in 35 seconds. That always sits in the back of your mind. You can never relax against a good NBA player."

The player Thibodeau was discussing, whose name I redacted, that inspires such fear in Tom Thibodeau?

Jannero Pargo."

LOL sounds like T-Mac scarred him for life.

Sure, he didn't need to play him 48 minutes, but from what I can recall the intensity wasn't that high and although it's not an excuse, he was basically the only wing player available for the game.
Yeah, that sounds like an excuse, just let that one go breh.

I mean shyt if you're gonna criticize him overplaying Butler, you've got to do the same for Hoiberg - Butler's basically playing identical minutes as he was under Thibs.

I agree Hoiberg should get the same criticism. Although to be fair, I understand the temptation to play a younger guy like Butler those minutes, but Noah and Gasol last year?:whoa:

First and foremost Melo is about his bread ... he was never leaving a market like NYC AND taking a pay cut all in the sake of winning(Lala would never allow it).... He sees the big picture and is just using basketball as a tool for bigger and better things

:ohhh: What "bread"? You mean the buku millions he left on the table by locking himself in to a 4 year deal and not renegotiating his contract next season when the cap will go way up (like Lebron will do), plus the extra 5 million he left on the table that his contract offers?:jbhmm: If 'Melo had pulled a Lebron, NY wouldn't have money to do anything. And he has a no-trade clause. Obviously he believes in Mr. 11 Rings. #Narratives

JVG, come back home.

It's only right. :mjcry:
It's always funny to me how Knicks fans or management run good coaches out of town only to regret it a few years later :mjlol:
  • Riley
  • Jeff Van Gundy
  • Who else?
Wait.... I wonder if i could find at least one post with a Knick fan wishing he had Isiah back. Think i'll have any luck, @NY's #1 Draft Pick? :patrice:
But like i said handing the coaching reigns of a franchise and fanbase with so much pressure to succeed immediately to a rookie headcoach was doomed from the start. Knicks fans dont have the kind of patience that most other fanbases not named Lakers, have to work witha rookie HC. I mean you saw what happened when Phil picked Porzngis (sp). After they hailed the man for coming to NY giving him standing ovations before he even had a username to logon into the active directory of the organization, they turn around and had the nerve to, not only question, but boo and sh!t on the man for weeks after the man's very first personnel acquisition.
I respect Knicks fans because they are by far the most hardcore/dedicated and probably knowledgeable fans in the NBA. But i never liked ungrateful mofos :scust:
