Penny was really good, but he wasn't on the same level as Grant Hill. A year before he got injured, Hill was averaging 26ppg, 7 rpg, 5 apg, and 1.5 spg while being the main ball handler on his team. He was Lebron before Lebron.

Pre-injury Rose was clearly better than Penny though.

So it goes like this Grant Hill > Rose > Penny

I've been telling people this for years. Many actually argue as if its Penny > Hill UNQUESTIONABLY even disregarding the footage/stats.

Hill and Rose are arguable, but I do agree that Penny is 3rd when comparing these 3. Grant Hill was incredible, he started mastering that mid-range jumpshot during that last season in Detroit...the league was officially aware that he was next.

Then his ankles gave out...and went to Orlando

Grant hill was unstoppable and silky smooth got to the rim in like 2 steps from inside the 3 point line

he shouldnt have played on that ankle in the playoffs his last year for the pistons

There's nothing that Penny does that Hill couldn't do...NOTHING. Hill on the other hand was a better defender

Penny was not a better passer - Penny was a PG with SHAQ on his team

Grant Hill had an okay squad and averaged the same amount of assists as Penny. He was the SF and #1 option . Hill had way better court awareness and vision.

You can't say he was a better winner, Grant led his team from the dumpster to the playoffs...Penny again had Shaq.

Penny started out a better 3 point shooter, the year Grant got injured is the year he added 3 pointers to his arsenal. so I would say Penny was a better/consistent 3 point shooter in his career. Grant was the better mid-range shooter , better finisher, and scorer.

i would say he mastered the mid-range jumpshot before that, it was the 3 pointer that he added before he got injured. But lets not haggle over that, agree with everything you said.

Grant hill > Rose by far imo,...rose got the MVP but he owes Thibs alot for that. Rose has no where near the court awareness/passing that HIll had.
