Wade is a SG, and thats where the bulk of his minutes will come from, playing the 2 guard. Either as a starter or coming off the bench.

Only way I see Wade logging significant time at the point position is if both IT and Rose are hurt at the same time. Quite possible, but if all are healthy I don't see Rose being the odd man out.

Barring additional injury beyond IT, the odd man out in terms of rotational mins is Shumpert. Even at his peak he was an inconsistent 3&D player. His defense has slipped considerably and his offense is barely existent. Not to mention his own injury prone issues. Unless one of Rose/Wade/JR misses significant time due to the injury, I expect Shumpert to rack up a lot of DNP-CD for the '17-18 campaign.

the "need help" thing is so cliched. that is a relative statement. did he need help to get past Boston? no. he only said that in reference to beating GSW, which he was right...and there are 28 other teams that need more help to beat GSW btw. Harden needs more help, Westbrook needs more help, Kyrie will damn sure need more help...and so on. Doesnt mean you dont have a good team with good players. Cavs were clearly the 2nd best team in the league last year but it wasnt good enough to beat GS.

its not about what you consider its about a winning formula. if IT is healthy he will start, but how good is Rose? everyone has speculations about who will start. the players that make the most money will start because they have to boost trade value. starting doesnt mean as much as it used to. some bench players get more minutes than starters. Rose is going to play a lot should he be healthy and keeps improving. Lets see how healthy IT is when he gets back. People are quick to count out Rose but if you are watching, you can see he still is a very good player in a much better setting than NYK.

I am not saying Rose is going to start. Cavs have too much invested in IT for one. Also, IT is the 2nd best scorer on the team.

However, dudes in here talmbout preseason this and that, like dudes aint out here trying to earn a spot with less minutes to do it in.
these new guys are trying to earn a rotation spot with the exception of Wade. Wade knows he will either be starting or be the 6th man. nothing less.

Rose isnt playing to give his spot up to IT. Remember, Rose still wants a near-max deal but the main reason no one is trying to pay him is because of those knees. He is going to compete as hard as he can for that spot. Even if he doesnt get it, he will look good doing it and that is a win-win for the Cavs.
