Despite Texas' lack of a state income tax, most Texans pay more in taxes than Californians, data shows

How did they even calculate these numbers? The only way I can see the poor paying more in taxes is because those with a lower income could actually own a home in Texas prior to prices soaring through the roof due to everyone moving here, whereas in Cali they were long priced out of owning a home. The main tax burden in Texas comes from property taxes.

What is this Peroni guy talking about states with income tax do more to lower inequality? There might be more 'programs', but everything is so absurdly expensive that there is more poverty. Parts of California look like a 3rd world country.

Trust I know folks who have transferred from Cali (same salary as they had in Cali) within the same company to Texas and Oklahoma and they were like 🙏 thank you Jesus when they see the lack of taxes taken out their check compared to that same check they got in Cali.

Also as you said. The property taxes may be lower in Cali than Texas, but it doesn't matter when these folks can buy a home in Texas for 350K and that same home in Cali is 800K to 1 Mill. Basically a home they could never afford to buy in Cali.

As discussed earlier that’s a premature way to look at taxes. Not every tax is listed on your paycheck.

Texas has one of the highest property taxes in the nation.

Also - classic saying

“If your state is missing a tax or low in one tax, it’s usually taxing you somewhere else.

American economy is silly because they brainwash you into believing the only tax you need to know about is “income tax”

:scust: :what:
stupid high. I was shocked when I looked at some homes to buy and saw the property taxes that go along with them. At that level then the no income tax don't really have much weight anymore. They getting it one way or another

Good, stay the fk out of here :pachaha:

Sales tax is 8.5% & I pay like 2.5% of my home value on taxes which comes out to about $12k per year and it’s rolled into my mortgage so nbd.
