Beg For Mercy is up there right behind GRODT, and possibly tied with Hunger for More for best G-Unit...scratch that, best 03-04 mainstream album. Devils Night is cool, a lot more lyricism and concept, but as far as the climate of 03-04 goes...
50 & the Unit had the media/fan focus that MMG got right now, but damn near EVERYBODY was on they side...they production was ill, and they just kept hittin u over the head wit hard track after hard track. "Gangsta shyt", "Lay Your Ass Down", "Footprints", "Poppin' Them Things", "I Smell p*ssy", "My Buddy"...I mean come on, the Unit RAN 2003 & 2004. Before they got corny and the whiteboys picked it up, couldn't nobody tell them nikkas NUFFEN.
And just like GRODT (commercial or not,) for that time period...it was one of them albums you could put on and just let it rock straight out the gate. No skippin shyt. The Unit had perfect chemistry. 50, the leader/boss/hook maker/solid rhymes...Banks, the punchline king, Yayo for the grimy nikkas who aint give a fukk about lyrics and actually had street cred, and Buck for the down south cats and the broads...
No contest.
