I never played any Final Fantasy game:merchant:

Reading this thread I just realized I used to play alot of fukking RPG's now all I play are sports and fighting games smh

What happened brehs?

I never played a final fantasy either......

What happpened is that now we dont have time to put 1000 hours into a game... You fight a few rounds ... cut the system off, go to bed, then go to work ... And as for sport games... we use 4 minuted quarters be done with a gae in 45 minutes .... do a season in like a month and get some quick results .... I dont wanna be playing a game for over 6 months and still be 10% in..

My old man attention span wont let me do that ...

used to be my favorite genre before western devs crushed the buildings. that's not to say there aren't western RPGs i'm into (Elder Scrolls, Diablo, Mass Effect, etc.) but the JRPGs have a different charm about them, hated seeing them fall off. there's been some great ones the last few years (Demon Souls, Ni No Kuni) but the genre has really suffered this gen.

i still don't think there are better RPGs than Chrono Trigger or Vagrant Story. Squaresoft were gods at one point. :blessed:

Final Fantasy III :blessed::ohlawd:

This game is amazing. I've owned it like 6 times, on multiple platforms. I still replay it all the time. Getting Shadow off of the floating continent? Amazing. Kefka's 8bit laugh? Still gives me chills.

Only really ever messed with Golden Sun 1 and 2 on the Game Boy Advance.

This is a really great franchise, I remember playing it a lot.

This has nothing to do with anything. You're acting like young people with plenty of free time ceased to exist when we grew up.

What happened was video games became mainstream. Mainstream = the industry has no patience for niche markets like RPGs, because by this point they know what the vast majority of people are interested in. Which is why we have "Call of Duty 15" and not "Chrono Trigger III".

i've always loved rpg's. that was the problem w/ the consoles of this generation. far too many shooters, and not enough of everything else. i'm hoping the new one's have alot of rpg's and platformers.
i just copped white knight chronicles and birds of prey off of gamestop, about a week ago. never played either one before.
oh yeah, go look back the dreamcast, and see how many rpg's were on the system. it's considered one of the greatest consoles ever made.

I was watching a retrospective look at the SNES and people were talking about how fondly they remember games like Final Fantasy II, Chrono Trigger, and Secret of Mana. For some reason I remember not messing with the RPG genre at all until PSX.

My 1st experience was watching my friend play Final Fantasy VII. The graphics were crazy @ the time so I was impressed. I tried the game myself and could never wrap my head around letting enemies hit me. shyt just bothered me...that I was forced to trade licks.

The only RPG I ever legit beat was Grandia II on Dreamcast. I actually enjoyed the hell outta that game and the combat system. I can't figure out what I did with the disc being I still have my beloved Dreamcast. Guess I need to burn some ish and fire that sucker back up.

So I said that to say this recommend a noob some RPGs...I don't care what system I have them all in some form *cough* Emulator *cough* or another.
I did. FF2, chrono trigger, Crystalis, Faxanadu, secret of Mana, and FF3 on snes. I remember when ff3 dropped on snes i played 7 hours straight with doritos, and drink It was a great moment in my life at that time.
