Can't say. We were saying "I'm trapping" in the 80s. Before that nikkaz was saying "I'm rolling". In the A tho, we been saying trap since at least the mid 80s.

But it doesn't really matter who first mentioned it, ATL rappers popularized it and made it what it is.

When it comes to this question no, only thing ATL didn't do is mention the specific word first (debatable), that's irrelevant, everything else trap related was done in Atl. It's hard to know for sure, there's so many possibilities as to where the word originated, but one is for sure - ATL made it what it is.
