The crazy part is Wakanda Forever had way more plot and better overall acting than the first, but won’t get the credit it deserves. It’s also up for more awards.

The first movie was a one of one. You can’t duplicate being FIRST at something. It came out during black history month. The sequel dropped two weeks before thanksgiving after the infinity saga is over and no Boseman.

Wakanda Forever is the better movie plot wise, it’s just not the movie a lot of people wanted to see for various reasons, many outside of their control.

It has almost no fanservice, minimal OMG tie in moments, no end credit teaser, and tries to deal with themes throughout the movie instead of throwing them in at the end. It’s not a typical bombastic Marvel movie.

No one even mentioned the Woman King in a single reply..which shows how silly the thread title is :mjlol:

Just another “where the menz at” Dr.Umar rant about BP2

Let that sink in for a second :dame:

How insecure are these “men” really?

As a man, I would rather see a female in tights and spandex than a man. Just like when I was a kid watching old kung fu flick, I was more into the female fighters than the men.
So your heroes were women growing up.

Do you also buy Prevention magazine instead of Men's Health because you can relate better?

Honest question.

Both Kill Bills were great. Most of Pam Grier’s movies were great.

I wanted to see T’Challa and Shuri was not a great replacement.

Yup
Avatar and Star Wars are the only franchises that's any threat to the Marvel empire

Top Gun 2 doubled up on BP2 as well... Even the latest Jurassic Park movie did over a bill. i'd bet that the latest Fast and Furious will go over a bill too...

People wanna create excuses. Phase 4 Marvel been ass..

But she wasn’t a replacement. The movie dealt with the aftermath of king T’Challa’s death. It dealt with the aftermath of what Killmonger did. It dealt with King T’Challa exposing the world to Wakanda’s truth power and it’s unintended consequences.

Shuri didn’t even want to be Black Panther. She did it because she had to. Her mom was killed. Her people were suffering and was facing an imminent attack.

If people actually took the time to understand the themes and the actual story instead of who was wearing a damn panther costume, they would probably relate to the movie more. :snoop:

T’Challa taught his sister how to fight. He also helped her become the intellect she is today. His body guards were women. His girlfriend was a spy.

Obviously King T’Challa fukked with strong females, but for some reason people can’t comprehend that.

The movie was trash and removed the black/African aspect the first one had for Mexican culture.

You also can't switch out a male action hero for a female action hero in a direct follow up without losing a number of people :yeshrug:.

I knew it wouldn't have staying power unless it was very good when I showed a chick the trailer (she had no idea the movie was even coming out) and she asked me "who are all these blue people why does it look like Avatar? and where is the Africa stuff the first one had?" and this was someone who isn't "pro black" telling me this :mjlol:

Woman King and BP2 are both great films. Maybe not recasting T'Challa is backfiring for BP2 but i thought they did good with the movie and not pressed about the "no black men" shyt.

Havent seen Avatar 2 yet but i probably will this week

nikka…

Name ONE movie with an all black cast that did over a billion? Just one.

Black Panther did over a billion because domestically it did $700 million. All of those movies you mentioned and white movies with white casts and were seen by mostly white people.

This is how they advertise movies with black lead actors in Europe.

Brad Pitt was on that movie for 5 minutes, yet look how he’s featured on the poster.

Ain’t nobody making excuses. Thor 4 shoudnt have been made. Spider Man did $2 billion. 2 movies came out during the pandemic, Dr Strange shouldn’t have been made and was pure fan service. Lumping Wakanda forever in with those other movies is just lazy.

Basically people were going to hate on it no matter what. The moment they decided not the recast. The moment Letitia Wright didn’t get vaccinated. The moment they had to delay shooting because she got hurt. People went into to this looking for reasons to hate on it and it still did $800 million which is more than Winter Soldier… it made more money than Captain America - Civil War domestically. The first two spider man movies domestically.

It made over $800 million with less time in theaters than the first and no China release (the first one did over $100 million in China). At the end of the day, it made a profit, got good reviews and is up for multiple awards.

my god nikka shut up

She was a replacement for T’Challa. She drank the potion and saw Kilmonger in her vision. She was in the final fight.

Not only was T’Challa not in the film, we didn’t get an epic fight scene featuring her.

Africans… actual Africans is who were born, raised on the continent, praised the movie for getting the cultural African aspects right.

They got so many excuses.

Now Way of The Water was supposed to make more money than the Marvel flicks and Black Panther? :mjlol:

The same Avatar people that said "had no cultural impact" before Way of The Water was released :russ:
