So depending on what publication you look at, the headlines will either say they did or they didn't legalize...?!?!?

California Democrats legalize child prostitution

No, California did not legalize child prostitution

Edit: The law doesn't "legalize", but shields underage person or "decriminalizes" them from prosecution for prostitution.

The question is still if this is a good or bad thing, and what are unintended consequences?

child prostitutes shouldn't be arrested or criminalized so I agree with this, they are victims:francis:

SB 1322, he added, "bars law enforcement from arresting sex workers who are under the age of 18 for soliciting or engaging in prostitution, or loitering with the intent to do so."

And that's true — the law does state that minors won't be treated as criminals if they are caught under such circumstances. But state Democrats say that distinction was necessary so that the children aren't being blamed or punished for their situation.

They are instead to be treated as victims who can be placed into a safe environment by the Department of Social Services, keeping them out of the criminal justice system and potentially off the streets again as sex workers, said state Sen. Holly Mitchell, who introduced SB 1322."

The Washington Examiner is a right wing partisan sensationalist rag looking to grab as many views as possible :scust:

I think the question is does this law help or hurt fukkboi pimps and traffickers of underage sex rings? I can't tell if this is good, bad, or the unitended consequences

Here is Washington Examiner's analysis:

"Beginning on Jan. 1, prostitution by minors will be legal in California. Yes, you read that right.

SB 1322 bars law enforcement from arresting sex workers who are under the age of 18 for soliciting or engaging in prostitution, or loitering with the intent to do so. So teenage girls (and boys) in California will soon be free to have sex in exchange for money without fear of arrest or prosecution.

The unintended but predictable consequence of how the real villains — pimps and other traffickers in human misery — will respond to this new law isn't difficult to foresee. Pimping and pandering will still be against the law whether it involves running adult women or young girls. But legalizing child prostitution will only incentivize the increased exploitation of underage girls. Immunity from arrest means law enforcement can't interfere with minors engaging in prostitution — which translates into bigger and better cash flow for the pimps. Simply put, more time on the street and less time in jail means more money for pimps, and more victims for them to exploit."

With them doing this, they should crack down on the many child sex rings out there

This.

Is there any talk of increased investigation/ enforcement actions against those who exploit children and minors in conjunction with this law?

What type of reading comprehension would one have to possess to draw this conculsion. :gucci:
The law doesn't legalize shyt, it just protects children being exploited in sex trafficking by not criminalizing them. It doesn't say nowhere in there that law enforcement can't stop child prostitution or interfere:heh:

Who the fukk is getting paid to write these utter nonsense :heh:

I've had to take kids into custody for a variety of reasons, but here in Illinois we cannot charge a juvenile with prostitution anymore. Reason being that a juvenile cannot legally consent to sex.
