Punisher and One Time woulda gave him hell

Thurman was hardly a name til Floyd was about to retire. Punisher was more in his timeline but he wasn’t that big of a name to take that risk either.

If it made cents, it made sense....floyd would fight anybody put infront of him and make easy work out of them. One of the reasons people bought his PPV's and he became the biggest boxing star because people wanted to see him lose.

Yeah if it made sense. He could’ve fought Tszyu but he wasn’t as big of a star as Hatton and more dangerous. Plus I think Floyd wanted to see if Zab was gonna get a rematch somehow. If someone would’ve put up the right amount a Tszyu fight could’ve been made but these guys were less popular even though better than other fighters in the division like Gatti. Gatti was such a big name. RIP

I thought Paul would be a tough matchup due to his crazy workrate and size. However, he had terrible defense (which also made him more fun to watch at times). After awhile, I think Floyd would get the timing down and catch him at the right times down the middle, and tie him up effectively. It would be sort of an ugly fight.

The timing didn’t match up, but I always thought Williams vs. Kassim Ouma at 154 would be a really good matchup. Both of them had crazy workrates.

Prime Manny might be the strongest case cause uncle Roger and others were on record saying shyt like they don't know how Manny is moving up in weight and destroying people, etc. Seems like there was some discussion in Floyd camp about how dangerous that fight would be and the testing discussion evolved from that.

Floyd was the first fighter I remember publicly leveraging that "A side" shyt and having fans ride with it. If fans believe fighters should be able to control their destiny and everything is about making the most money and having leverage then it's always a rationale explanation for a "duck" (ie: people riding with Canelo comments on Andrade) , so in that context it's kind of hard to call any strategic move a duck and be taken seriously :yeshrug:

Floyd learned from Oscar.

Oscar got the higher split, he picked the ring size, he picked the weight (154), the glove size, he picked Floyd's gloves......Floyd literally had to concede everything to get that fight so when it was his turn he took full advantage.........but you know, no one likes a black man having power and control so it's always going to be called a duck.

facts khan fukked up his career doing this shyt...he is one fighter you will never hear me say floyd ducked or avoided

on the flip side....andre berto should have NEVER got a ppv fight with floyd cuz he damn sure didnt earn it..and that ppv card was fire too up until the main event :smh:

That was a retirement fight and just an easy win to close out his Showtime contract and career. As much as Berto didn't earn it, it's hard to hold that fight against Floyd after he gave everyone the fight they wanted to see against Pacquiao. That was basically Al Haymon rewarding one of his guys with a big payday.

There was def strong demand for Margarito vs Floyd after Margarito KO'd Cintron & Cotto

Floyd wanted to fight Oscar for the pay day & exposure...fans wanted to see him fight Margarito

Margarito beat Cotto in the summer of 2008.

Floyd Mayweather had already retired about a month before that and actually canceled his rematch with Oscar De La Hoya.
