He either overestimated his fanbase, or he underestimated their support when it comes to them buying units. I think it's the latter. He should have waited at least a month before giving it away, but he wanted people to hear it and it looks better to have low ass sales because you gave away the album opposed to no one buying. He had gay and lesbian groups giving him buzz through major outlets too simply based off the title.
