If you're gonna get into a physical altercation with someone, be prepared to take it all the way. :yeshrug: If it isn't important enough to kill or be killed over, let it go.

The clerk didn't have to shoot him... but :manny: You can't go around throwing hooks at people's jaws for no reason.

Also, did this kid die? Shooting him in the leg or something would be :manny: but if he shot the kid to death, that's excessive force...

I think he was shot in the torso and from all accounts that I've read thus far he was in critical condition upon arrival at the hospital. Can't find anything further.

Straight out the fukkin' dungeons of rap
:snoop:
Okay,
Let's say you're out and about and armed. You find yourself in a confrontation with someone and it escalates to the them shoving you.

You're going to shoot them since they touched you? :usure:
im sure most people here would trust themselves not to shoot someone who just brought out the fists

question is, do you trust a complete stranger to do the same?

i get your point that the punishment didnt fit the crime and was excessive but at the same time, you are rolling the dice as the one throwing the punch

don't assume people will fight fair especially if they are a complete stranger

Never heard this story before. It's from 2012.

Young brother gets into a confrontation with a store clerk which leads to him striking the clerk.

The clerk then shoots him.

Self defense?

Thoughts? Opinions?

Yes, he needed to be shot. We cant be defending brothas in the wrong. Just the ones in the right. We do not know when someone is going to just stop a confrontation with a punch. Id rather be tried by 12 then carried by 6.

I know brazillian jiujitsu so i wouldnt have shot him but i can understand a man otherwise defenseless resorting to using a gun if hes punched in the face when the guy is standing directly in front of him, punching you while you're holding a gun. :manny:

It's a bunch of sambo ass nikkas in here. Make light of the death of a black person because of a punch. If punching someobe equaled death then 99% of the users on here wouldn't exist right now. shyt is sickening.

It's an unfortunate situation and I don't think anyone is really making light of it. Instead I think most people are just seeing it for what it really is and, most importantly, putting themselves in the store owner's shoes.

The clerk walked up on him with a strap. If a cat is just yapping and not approaching you, fall back, lock the door and call the police. It was preventable, so that's probably why the store owner was pissed at him

He already got his ass capped in a robbery, so maybe he felt like he had something to prove.

On whether or not that ol' boy "deserved" it: You get what you get in situations like this :yeshrug:

All of that :salute:

Except I don't know if he "deserved" it. Deserve is a word that entails so much, and it takes a lot to "deserve" to get shot. But he definitely should expect as much, when you go around punching people in the face

Yes expect not deserve. Either way most people aren't going to feel sorry for you.

True. It seems there was a lot of outrage over this incident locally, though. From what I understand most of it was also due to this video having not yet been released for some time after the initial shooting.
I wonder how the local support for the kid played out after the video was released..

See I can't get with this... Put yourself in the other guy's shoes. Let's say someone socks you in your face, in your place of business, while you are holding a pistol... :weirdo: I honestly cannot say with confidence that id make the "right choice" :manny:

:whoa: I never said "the punishment didn't fit the crime and was excessive". I simply provided a lesser scenario (shove instead of punch) to see what that poster's reaction would be in that instance seeing as how he said he'd blast someone if they simply "touched" him.

I agree, you can't trust that just because you're mad and want to fight- the other person is going to automatically be just as willing as well. Most people will either shoot you or run from you these days.

Those aren't good odds to run around testing.

And I honestly can't say whether anyone, man or law, has the right to TELL someone how to react in that situation :manny: We're all different with different levels of fear, physical weaknesses, past experiences, etc etc.. You just can't punch people in the face. It's an unfortunate situation.
