I believe that you can only end ones career when that artist is on their way down in buzz and music quality.
Like Pac didn't put a dent on Bigs career, Jay and Nas didn't put a dent on each others careers, 50 could kill Ja but with even more ammo had zero impact on Ross's career. Same with Pusha and Drake.

Now if you are already on your way to your grave, a nail in the coffin can be delivered.

In the end if the artists music & style is still fresh and resonates with people, that will prevail over just about anything. Specially in these times where there's no middle man controlling the flow of music.
