Did y'all see Sherman throwing Russell Wilson under the bus to boost himself up?

If his late career "plays him out the Hall Of Fame", that means he was never going in anyway.

Anybody else with the first decade of their career comparable to Russell's, is locked in.

How is the end of Aaron Rodgers' career going? What was the end of Favre's career like, and speaking of Favre, talk about a guy who had virtually all his success in the beginning...

Marino wasn't bouncing team to team but did he have some stellar ending?

A lot of what's happening to Russ is on him, similar to Basketball Russ, in an underrated way. He doesn't work well with others and alienates people around him. Whether teammates, coaches, etc. But lets stay keeping it real, somebody had to QB the team with the legendary defense. I'm the biggest LOB Homer there is, yall know I stand on, LOB is THE greatest defense in NFL history...

But name me a legendary defense that didn't have a legendary QB outside of the '85 Bears. Was Bradshaw a great QB (for his era), or was he carried by an iconic defense? Or does that only apply to Russ?

Russ should get into Canton. If he doesn't, no tears from me, this man gets to fukk on Ciara the rest of his life, has a net worth of $165 million, and has a Super Bowl ring. I won't be shedding tears if he doesn't get in...

But if the question is 'should' he get in, absolutely fukking yes. In his prime you're only undebatably putting the last stretches of Manning, Brady, Rodgers, and Brees over him. Russ was certainly better than everybody's new HOF guy Stat fukking Padford!

All the pieces worked because of each other but we not taking nothing away from Sherman. All-Time great corner on the greatest defense to ever exist.

Russ also deserves his flowers for the LOB run, somebody had to be the QB.

But if I was making an argument for LOB contributions over Russ, its that when LOB was in the midst of the greatest defensive run ever (4x consecutive #1 scoring defense 2012-15; still #3 scoring defense in '16), the Hawks went to two Super Bowls and had a .700 win percentage (11.2 wins/year), with an 8-4 playoff record---->when the Hawks declined and Russ was a legit Top 5 QB 2017-21 (and he ascended to Top 5 level in '15), the Hawks were still a .615 win percentage (9.8 wins per16), but missed the playoffs twice and had a 1-3 playoff record.

Russ also threw the game winning touchdown. LOB absolutely kept them in that game, but Russ threw the game winning touchdown.
Also, they don’t beat the 49ers any of those years without russ. Mobile QBs were our weakness, we sweep them every year if they have Matt Flynn or a brad Johnson type :mjlol:

Cacs put Kurt Warner in the HOF who had one of the biggest falloffs in NFL history and also benefited from a historically "stacked" roster. They'll 100000% put Eli and Stafford in there as well.

But a 10x Pro Bowler and Superbowl Champion that has a Top 5 passer rating isn't worthy of being in there. :mjlol:

And nikkas act like Russ isn't a massive overacheiver and trailblazer either. 4th round QB who beat out the veteran the Seahawks handed $30m to in training camp and was a winning QB despite his height limitations.

Of the QBs drafted in the early 2010s, no one had a better career than him.

Exactly. Russ catching all the blame and not Pete for calling that dumb ass play never sat right with me
I'm trying also to find the interview where Marshawn himself said Russ asked him about audibling to a run play and he (Marshawn) said no.

there's goofies out there who think Russell audibled from a run to a pass play.

a telegraphed play Bill picked up on that the Pats D practiced against all week at that.
If I remember correctly, they ran that same exact play and scored a TD before halftime.
Malcolm Butler just made an amazing play.

I honestly think Russ could have walked in the endzone if they did a play action bootleg.

What a terrible take by Tony Gonzalez. Russ is a hall of famer. He may not be first ballot but he’s definitely getting in and there’s nothing that will change that.

Secondly, the Legion of Boom ended in 2018 yet Russ went 23-9 in the two seasons after they were disbanded. Bad take by Sherman.
The way you gotta look at this, is when did LOB stop being LOB?

The Legion Of Boom run was the greatest 6-year run ever; greatest 5-year run ever; greatest 4-year run ever; and so on. The only debatable thing about them, is are the '13 Hawks the greatest one year defense ever? They have a case but you can definitely make a case for other defenses on a 1-year run.

Once you start totaling the run, they separate from other historically great defenses, and they separate fast.

They were a Top 7 defense for 6 straight years, 2011-16. Right in the middle of that, 2012-15, they were the #1 defense in The League (#7 in 2011, #3 in 2016).

The run ended with the '16 Hawks. But it also started before Russ got there, and they only went 7-9 was Tavaris Jackson at QB in '11, with an elite defense. Unpolished Russ gets there and they gonna to two Super Bowls. When the run ends they only win one playoff game the rest of Russ' Seattle career.

Both sides deserve they flowers.
It's stupid the narrative is Russ played himself out of the HOF, but it’s a matter of if, not when with Eli.
Exactly, and Russ was 10x the QB bytch ass Eli was. Far and away a better player.

And I'll keep mentioning NFL Media's love fest with Stat Padford as a Canton guy when he clearly is NOT, those '11, '14, and '16 Lions playoff teams Padford had were well good enough to win a playoff game and have some sustained success, but this guy did nothing with them besides end the playoff drought and start another 🤣
Sherman is one of the 5 best CBs of the past 15 yrs, can't say the same for baby hair
That ain't how you do it, Russ been washed for 4-5 years now, so encompassing the last 15 years paints an inaccurate picture.

His "prime" is his "era", was he one of the five greatest QBs in his era?

You could debate on the margins, sure, because Mahomes came up late in Russ' prime. Brady and Rodgers were great throughout his prime. Brees slipped at the end of Russ' prime, and Russ and Manning's prime never overlapped really.

Mahomes, Brady, Rodgers, Brees. Who is #5 of Russ' prime (which I say is 2015-21)?

It's Russ.

Sherman is absolutely one of the greatest of his generation too, thougj.

They don’t like him

Quite honestly I don’t know how to reconcile this. There’s been HOF level quarterbacks that didn’t get along with teammates but this shyt just seems belong the pale. He’s almost like the Dwight Howard of football. How much does that factor into the decision when we’re not talking about sure fire guy?

the fact you even said this proves he's an icon lol. love and hate...two sides of the same coin.

Fair enough but my point was on the Tony's "playing himself out The Hall" comment because of how poorly the end is going. Those guys had poor endings too (notwithstanding '09 Favre).

This. Sherman was great, but those LoB defenses were more stacked than a prime Cherokee D.

Literally, they had 2 all-pro safeties, Bobby Wagner, (including Sherman) 2 good-great corners, and I think them níggas had 2 pro bowlers on the D-line also:dead:.
2011-16 Hawks had the following players, in a 6-year stretch.

All-Pros
Sherman (4x)
Wagner (3x)
Thomas (2x)
Kam (2x)

Pro Bowls
Thomas (5x)
Kam (4x)
Sherman (4x)
Wagner (3x)
Bennett (2x)
Browner
Avril
Wright

These guys put 8 players in the Pro Bowl in 6 years, that's 3 short of an entire defense. They put two defensive linemen, two linebackers, and four defensive backs in the Pro Bowl.

They had 4 guys who were multiple-time All-Pros.

It's unquestionably the greatest defense, and the greatest secondary, of all time.

@Based Lord Zedd Russ was an All-Pro in '19.

I'm just confirming that I remember the interview years back when Marshawn said Russ asked him if he wanted the ball and he said to run the play as called.

They were mad at Russ because they thought the coaches wanted him to be the hero. He didn't call the play so why be mad at him? Just shows the jealousy they had for him.

If I remember correctly, they ran that same exact play and scored a TD before halftime.

I've been saying that was the first play they should have ran at the goal line. Everyone knew the ball was going to Marshawn. If they faked it the entire defense collapses in the middle and Russ walks into the end zone untouched.
