Did y'all see Sherman throwing Russell Wilson under the bus to boost himself up?

That's how I think of it for the most part.

When I hear names such as Gore, Stafford, etc., I don't think they should be in the HOF, although Stafford's numbers are better than I thought. I know a lot of people disagree with me on this, but I'm someone who thinks Mike Evans is not a HOF player. You should have to have been ELITE when you were playing. Mike Evans has been a very good WR that consistently put up very good numbers, but people overvalue those 1,000 yard receiving seasons. It's such an arbitrary number.
Mike Evans is top 10 all time in TD receptions.

This is what the argument boils down to. Something even Deion Sanders has said.

HOF is too easy to get into, or at least it's too easy to be perceived as a HOF candidate.

It shouldn't be watered down, and letting peoiple who are underserving in only gives other underserving people leverage.

See the argument, if "ELI GETS IN RUSS SHOULD GET IN"

No, how about we leave both out.

EXPOSED AN INHERENT BIAS

Whats your case for dude making the HOF. So far you've said to me:

  • You're biased
  • He's better than Eli, and should make it if Eli makes it

You can say whatever you want about me, dude isn't a lock for the HOF he's borderline at best. I don't think he should make it, oh well.

Edit: I also want to point out that there was a similar situation where Sherman said Stafford shouldn't make it, which I agree with too. In that thread you were shytting on Stafford.

Now you can argue Stafford has a worse* shot than Wilson which is fine, but they're all in the same tier of QBs who were good, but not good enough to get there. (Ryan, Stafford, Wilson, Rivers, etc).

If Eli gets in the HOF, Russ has to be in. I don't think Eli deserves to be in the HOF frankly.

Always gonna have love for Russ for throwing the greatest pass in SB history.

Don't want to derail the thread regarding Mike Evans as I've already had to educate people about him not being a HOF player in the other thread about him.

When people talk about his 1,000 yard seasons, THIS is how many people in each of those seasons had 1,000 receiving yards. It's just an arbitrary milestone that should hold little value. So, the only real argument is sustained longevity. However, I believe you need to be elite to make the HOF, not just be very good for a long period of time.

2014: 23
2015: 26
2016: 25
2017: 15 (He was 15th and had 1,001 yards)
2018: 21
2019: 29
2020: 18 (He was 18th with 1,006 yards)
2021: 26
2022: 22
2023: 28
2024: 24

What does any of that have to do with the fact that's he's top ten all time in TD receptions?

I think that the Hall of Fame should be SUPER exclusive. Complete no doubters. When you say the player's name, there's no thought needed.

Lawrence Taylor
Jim Brown
Peyton Manning
Tom Brady
Reggie White
Barry Sanders
Emmitt Smith

Like... it's not even a discussion. If you have to stop and think for a second about a guy, he's not a HOF IMO

The inherent issue is there’s going to be those you think are no brainers that others will disagree on and vise versa

No matter how exclusive you try to make these types of things are too subjective to make everyone happy. There’s always going to be ppl who feel like certain guys get snubbed or were overrated

Correct me if I am wrong as I might make a mistake again.

When Eli retired he was 7th all time in pass TDs. Pretty sure he is 13th, right behind Wilson now. Carson Palmer and Kirk Cousins both top 20.

Jimmy Garopollo is 9th in career QBR
Tua is 10th
Kirk is 11th

You need to be careful bringing up stats like this, it heavily favors recency.

Thank you for taking off the Pro Bowl alternates. I believe if Russ made it today (and ignoring that Eli will be the one to break this trend) Russel Wilson would be the first QB to make the HOF without ever receiving an MVP vote (what i said incorrectly the first time.)
The second team all pro was in 2019, not 2022 is and is his greatest individual accomplishment.

The SB win (team accomplishment, no MVP) I agree is his strongest thing, counting SB appearances is goofy and I think if he won the other one he'd be a lock.

That era was a great all around team. As soon as they shifted to go against the running game and defense, the team success went downhill :manny:

The Let Russ Cook era led to nothing but stats and excuses. Whether that’s correlation or causation is a conversation, but objectively the LOB era was better than the Let Russ Cook era

If people are questioning Stafford’s eligibility then there’s no way Russ is a shoe in. He very well have played himself out of the hall of fame.

When the LOB fell off he didn’t win anymore in the playoffs than guys like Dak Prescott, Kirk Cousins, or Tony Romo.

Sherman is a weirdo who is in his own world if he's seriously believing this nonsense. We all know he wouldn't be putting on this act if Russell Wilson was a white qb. It's tiring watching people tear down another black man like this. We never had this many people attack other aging QBs like this and starting to feel like this is mainly happening due to his skin color or possibly not being one of the boys. I did remember there was articles about seahawks players saying he's not black enough and that is such a dangerous discussion.
